Leidos is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Public Health Analyst to support the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
This role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to public health surveillance, epidemiologic research, infection prevention, and disease control initiatives at the national level. The position is based in or around Atlanta, GA, with some remote work but the need to be able to be onsite as needed in Atlanta, GA.
Candidates MUST be:
U.S. Citizenship or Green Card Holder status required, with continuous residence in the U.S. for the past three years.

The Public Health Analyst will serve as a key contributor and collaborator—working alongside CDC leaders, epidemiologists, data scientists, technologists, and public health subject matter experts to advance national infectious disease prevention and response programs.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide programmatic, analytical, and scientific support to CDC programs addressing infectious diseases and healthcare-associated infections.
- Identify, research, and analyze public health issues, data trends, and policies to inform program improvements and decision-making.
- Collaborate with CDC leadership, epidemiologists, technologists, and infection prevention experts to design, evaluate, and enhance surveillance initiatives.
- Serve as a subject matter expert on infection prevention and control, particularly in the areas of healthcare-associated infections (HAIs), bloodstream infections (BSIs), and COVID-19–related guidance.
- Support the development and implementation of digital quality measures, integrating emerging technologies such as natural language processing for infectious disease detection.
- Conduct data analysis, literature reviews, and policy evaluations to identify trends, challenges, or improvements in surveillance systems.
- Develop educational materials, guidance documents, and training resources that support infection prevention and reporting best practices.
- Provide technical assistance and training to public health professionals and healthcare facilities on surveillance methods and infection prevention strategies.
- Participate in cross-functional teams to support the design and rollout of new training tools, public health technologies, and surveillance improvements.
- Manage assigned projects independently while maintaining clear communication and collaboration across multidisciplinary teams.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Public Health, Epidemiology, Health Policy, Biostatistics, Health Informatics, or a related field (Master’s preferred).
- 3–5 years of experience in public health analysis, epidemiology, infection prevention, or healthcare quality improvement.
- Experience supporting or partnering with federal health agencies such as the CDC, NIH, or HHS.
- Knowledge of infection prevention standards, healthcare quality measures, and data-driven performance improvement.
- Proficiency in data analysis tools (specifically at least one of these tools is required, R, SAS, Databricks, Python, or similar statistical software).
- Familiarity with public health informatics, health data systems, or digital surveillance tools.
- Strong analytical skills with experience evaluating public health data systems, surveillance processes, or program outcomes.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with proven ability to translate complex public health concepts into actionable insights and reports.
- Demonstrated experience collaborating with multidisciplinary teams including epidemiologists, data analysts, technologists, and health leaders.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while maintaining effective communication with project teams and stakeholders.
- Must meet Public Trust Level 5 background investigation requirements.
