Overview

LMI is seeking a Data Analytics & Visualization Advisor to support the Office of the Under Secretary of Defense for Acquisition and Sustainment (USD A&S) at the Pentagon. This position plays a critical role in translating leadership intent into actionable data insights, analytical deliverables, and decision-support dashboards. The ideal candidate is a trusted advisor who can anticipate information needs, synthesize complex datasets, and build intuitive tools that enable senior leadership to make data-driven decisions efficiently.

As part of LMI's high-performing team, you will leverage advanced data engineering and analytics capabilities to streamline front office operations and enhance situational awareness across acquisition, logistics, and procurement activities.

Responsibilities

  • Executive Data Support:
    Attend meetings with the Under Secretary and senior staff to capture discussion outcomes, interpret key priorities, and translate intent into data analysis and dashboard requirements.
  • Data Analysis & Engineering:
    Source, integrate, and analyze data from multiple DoD systems and enterprise platforms to develop insights supporting acquisition and sustainment decisions.
    Apply advanced analytics, statistical modeling, and automation to derive meaningful conclusions from large datasets.
  • Dashboard Development:
    Design, develop, and maintain interactive dashboards and reporting solutions using tools such as Power BI, Power Automate, SharePoint, and other DoD-authorized systems.
    Ensure dashboards are intuitive, accurate, and tailored to executive-level decision-making.
  • Process Optimization & Automation:
    Implement data-driven workflows and automated pipelines to support rapid analysis and reduce manual reporting burdens.
    Utilize technologies like Python and SQL, enable scalable and repeatable analytics solutions.
  • Tasker & Workflow Management:
    Use analytics and visualization tools to monitor and manage actions and taskers originating from the White House, OMB, and the Secretary of Defense.
    Provide real-time situational awareness to leadership through accurate and responsive reporting mechanisms.
  • Collaboration & Advisory:
    Partner with front office, IT, and analytic teams to ensure data integrity, alignment with mission goals, and compliance with federal data standards.
    Serve as a trusted technical advisor to senior leadership, capable of independently identifying opportunities for analytic improvements.


Qualifications

  • Active DoD Secret (or higher) security clearance.
  • Bachelor's degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Analytics, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated experience in data analysis, engineering, and dashboarding within the DoD or federal sector.
  • 3-5+ years of relevant experience in the field is required
  • Proficiency with modern data and automation tools, including:
    • Power BI, Power Automate, SharePoint, and Jira
    • SQL (PostgreSQL, Oracle), Python (pandas, NumPy, TensorFlow)
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, with the ability to translate complex discussions into actionable data products.
  • Proven ability to work independently in a high-visibility, fast-paced environment with senior government leaders.

Desired:
  • Experience with data warehousing, ETL/ELT processes, metadata management, and machine learning applications.
  • Working knowledge of Advana or Jupiter
  • Familiarity with DoD acquisition, logistics, and procurement data and systems.
  • Knowledge of Agile and DevSecOps methodologies and digital transformation initiatives within government contexts.
  • Demonstrated success supporting front office or senior executive decision-making environments.

Target salary range: $90,876 - 155,783
