Duties
Help
  • Serve as Contracting Officer Representative (COR) in administering or monitoring contractor performance of numerous assigned contracts.
  • Exercise full responsibility of overall planning and implementation of hospital housekeeping contract requirements.
  • Determine need for allocation of resources within the Environmental Services Branch for a wide range of housekeeping requirements.
  • Conduct and supervise sanitary inspections of all hospital areas.
  • Responsible for the establishment and maintenance of accountability and usage of all linen items within the medical center.
  • Ensure the linen management program meets all the standards and guidelines established on infection prevention control procedures.
  • Supervise civilian personnel.

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • A Personnel Security Investigation is required.
  • This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.
  • Selectees will be required to sign a statement (Condition of Employment) consenting to seasonal influenza vaccinations or must provide a recognized exemption.
  • This position is a Testing Designated Position subject to applicant testing and random drug testing. Selectees will be required to sign DA Form 5019 requiring participation in random drug urinalysis testing.
  • A pre-placement medical examination is required.
  • Immunization screening is required. Hepatitis B immunization is required for all positions with direct patient contact. Applicants may be required to show proof of other immunizations depending on the type of position.
  • This position may require the incumbent to work during irregular work hours which may include evenings, weekends, holidays, and/or varying work schedules.

  • Moderate to heavy lifting up to 45 pounds is required.
  • Must be a Certified Healthcare Environmental Services Professional (CHESP) through the American Hospital Association and a member of the American Society of Healthcare Environmental Services (ASHES) within 18 months.
  • Must be a Certified Linen and Laundry Manager (CLLM) through the Association of Laundry Managers (ALM) within 6 months.
  • Must be able to be appointed in writing as a Contracting Officer Representative (COR) for Operations Management within 6 months.
  • Must be certified as a Certified/Registered Executive Housekeeper (CEH/REH) through the International Executive Housekeeping Association (IEHA) within 12 months.
  • Must be certified as a Unit Mail Officer through the Unit Mail Clerk and Official Mail Officer courses provided by MCB Camp Pendleton.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes assisting in daily operation of a medical waste management program; assisting in monitoring appropriate usage of all linen items within a medical center; assisting in conducting inspections on hospital grounds to adhere to environmental sanitation standards; and overseeing personnel. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
