Duties

  • You will oversee the design, development, and implementation of software applications specifically designed for testing and validating machine learning algorithms and systems.
  • You will lead a team of developers, ensuring the delivery of high-quality testing tools that meet the stringent requirements of Al/ML development.
  • You will craft the underlying software infrastructure that enables comprehensive testing of sophisticated machine learning algorithms.
  • You will connect these tools with instrumentation, embedded systems, and systems under test, ensuring end-to-end validation of Al/ML applications.
  • You will provide critical leadership in test and evaluation tool development, integration, certification, and fielding, playing a vital role in delivering reliable and trustworthy Al/ML solutions.

  • This position is covered under the Defense Acquisition Workforce Improvement Act (DAWIA). Certification in the Acquisition Functional Area and category assigned to the position is required within established category timeframes.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

Qualifications

In addition to meeting the basic education requirement, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at the ND-04 pay band (GS 12-13 equivalency) or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: a computer scientist with experience in software development and software architectures.

Examples of qualifying experience may include:
- Significant experience as a Software Developer (5-8+ years).
- Experience with Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning.
- Deep expertise in Python with a familiarity with C++, bash, and JavaScript.
- Strong understanding with pub/sub message architectures (Kafka, Pulsar, and ROS).
- Experience with building modular interfaces, software containerization, and microservices.
- Strong understanding of data structures, algorithms, and design patterns.
- Proven ability to design scalable, maintainable, and secure software architectures.
- Proficiency with DevOps principles and practices and CI/CD tools.
- Familiarity with Windows and Linux operating systems..

Education

Applicants must meet the following positive education qualifications requirements of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualifications Standards Manual:

A Bachelor's degree in computer science
OR
A bachelor's degree with 30 semester hours in a combination of mathematics, statistics, and computer science. At least 15 of the 30 semester hours must have included any combination of statistics and mathematics that included differential and integral calculus. All academic degrees and course work must be from accredited or pre-accredited institutions.
