As a TRANSPORTATION SPECIALIST at the GS-2101-13 some of your typical work assignments may include:
- Serves as the primary command focal point and technical expert for managing the Defense Travel Regulation, Part VI, Management and Control of Intermodal Container and System 463L Pallet Equipment.
- Serves as an administrator for the Defense Transportation Regulation (DTR). Analyzes DoD policies and procedures, identifying improvements to processes, and required procedural changes.
- Research and analyze transportation policy, doctrine, public laws, rules and other regulatory documents for purpose of interpreting or establishing new DOD policy and procedures and to provide Command level and/or DoD advice related to ISO (International Organization for Standardization) and 463L assets.
- Develops and presents briefings to senior USTRANSCOM leadership on ISO and 463L assets policy and procedures.
- Represents USTRANSCOM on transportation-related interagency boards, committees, and meetings to discuss, formulate and/or coordinate operations, programs, policy and procedures.

- Research and analyze transportation policy documents for the purpose of interpreting or developing procedures, incorporating transportation management and logistics operations to drive efficient effective use of Defense Transportation System (DTS) and its capabilities.
- Resolving broad, complex, or sensitive transportation operations and traffic management problems.
- Developing and presenting briefings on transportation systems, policies, and procedures to various federal, commercial or international audiences (e.g. staff components, Office of the Secretary of Defense (OSD) activities, Unified Commands, the Services and other agencies).
