Duties

  • Performs work involving the preparation of plans for specific operations including scheduled and unscheduled aircraft maintenance requirements
  • Performs work involving the scheduling and dispatching of jobs in support of aircraft maintenance activities
  • Directs aircraft through all phases of Isochronal/Phase/Periodic Inspections
  • Performs automated tracking of' maintenance data through the use of the Core Automated Maintenance System (CAMS) for airlift, referred to as G081
  • Prepares monthly aircraft maintenance plan and all reports relating to maintaining aircraft
  • Performs documentation duties involving temporary and permanent aircraft forms and documentation records

  • Provide management assistance to the maintenance Unit Control Center (UCQ when activated during contingency, mobility, or exercise operations
  • May be required to assign personnel to accomplish door guard duties, runner duties and assist in running checklists, answering the phone and passing information on to the maintenance flights
  • May be required to work an uncommon tour of duty
  • Access is required to information or areas classified up to SECRET
Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the general experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Clerical and Administrative.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-06, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience includes comprehensive knowledge of operation, installation, and repair of a variety of aircraft systems, assemblies, and surfaces such as hydraulic and pneudraulic systems and assemblies; electrical systems and assemblies; indication systems and assemblies; landing gear systems and assemblies; ground refueling and air refueling systems and assemblies; cargo door and ramp systems and assemblies; and flight control system and assemblies.

FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-06 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-07 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks. NOTE: Applicants applying as VEOA candidates who are current GS civil service employees or are prior GS civil service employees within the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:

1. Knowledge and skill of the distribution of personnel to obtain a balanced workload.

2. Skill in oral communication, ability to plan, schedule. and take corrective action to meet emergency and regular workload requirements

3. Ability to correlate and analyze a variety of routine production data, familiar with computer operations and maintenance information systems.

4. Knowledge of assigned aircraft (i.e., C-5, C-17, KC-135 or related civilian aircraft equivalent) maintenance operations, processes, policies, and
procedures.

5. Ability to interpret manufacturing terminology, data, standards and instructions, and to relate them properly to the particular control projects assigned in preparing production plans and schedules and in maintaining effective follow-up

6. Knowledge and skill of appropriate production processes and material posture to assure continuing availability of mission capable aircraft to Ability to collect, compile and correlate production data from a variety of sources

PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.

VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
