The Boeing Company is currently seeking a Senior Software Engineer Developer to support our Boeing Global Services ( BGS) Mission Software & Services team l o cated in Long Beach, California. This position will focus on supporting the Boeing Commercial Airplanes (BCA) & Boeing Global Services (BGS) Software Engineering organization.

The responsible software engineer will lead C-17 avionics projects and be responsible for the Aircrew Data Transfer Device (ADTD), critical Avionics Development Reports (ADRs), and other cybersecurity-related implementations as the organization grows its product portfolio and implements novel modernization approaches. This critical role is needed to steer design and integration practices to improve maintainability, eliminate technical debt, and scale our software release capability.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Coordinates the development, maintenance, enhancement and optimization of software products and functionalities for systems integrations
  • Leads handling of user inquiries, troubleshooting technical issues and user feedback analysis
  • Leads execution and documentation of software research and development projects
  • Leads activities to develop, document and maintain architectures, requirements, algorithms, interfaces and designs for software products
  • Debugs and leads resolution of issues identified to ensure the reliability and efficiency of software products
  • Leads development, establishment, monitoring and improvement of software processes, tools and key performance metrics that align projects with organizational goals and industry benchmarks


Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/ Experience):

  • 9+ years of experience programming in C, C++ or Ada
  • 9+ years of experience with software development on Windows or Linux
  • 9+ years of experience working with development, deployment and version control tools (e.g., Eclipse, Git, Jira, VersionOne)
  • 5+ years of experience with avionics and aircraft systems


Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, computer science, computer engineering, software engineering or equivalent experience
  • 5+ years of experience with any of the following Boeing enterprise standard or similar Systems Engineering tools: ClearCase, ClearQuest, DOORS, BORIS, Sherlock, VersionOne
  • Knowledge of software development processes in compliance with established internal and industry standards, guidelines, and best practices in the development, testing, and deployment of software
  • Knowledge of domains, characteristics, constraints and products that require software and influence architecture, requirements, interfaces, designs, and integration/test approaches. Domain examples include data processing, ground support, tools and analysis models. Examples of characteristics and constraints that impact software include operating systems, fidelity and information processing capacity. Examples of products include aircraft , missiles, airborne/shipboard/space systems/ground-based support systems
  • Knowledge of software architecture and design methodologies. Ability to synthesize software architectures and designs that meet requirements, characteristics and constraints
  • Knowledge of software programming languages and databases and the ability to apply to the software domain. Programming languages encompass higher order languages, auto-coded languages and assembly languages

Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations .

Summary pay range for Senior Level: $156,400 - $211,600
