Northrop Grumman Space Systems-Missile Defense Integration offers an excellent opportunity for an Sr Principal Engineer Systems - Global Level II Sys Engineer (25-539) to join our team of talented and diverse professionals. Based at Schriever Space Force Base in Colorado Springs, CO, this role is essential in supporting the U.S. President, the Secretary of Defense, and combatant commanders at strategic, regional, and operational levels.

This position does not provide relocation assistance and requires on-site work with no remote options.

Position Overview:

The Command and Control, Battle Management, and Communications (C2BMC) program is a vital part of the Missile Defense System. It provides an essential operational platform that allows the U.S. president, the secretary of defense, and combatant commanders at strategic, regional, and tactical levels to systematically plan missile defense operations, monitor battle progress, and actively control networked sensors and weapon systems to meet global and regional mission objectives. C2BMC offers a layered missile defense capability, providing an optimized response to threats across all ranges and flight phases. It acts as a force multiplier by connecting, integrating, and synchronizing autonomous sensor and weapon systems and operations both worldwide and locally to enhance overall performance. Additionally, C2BMC is a key element in all ground and flight tests that verify and showcase the missile defense system's current and future capabilities.

At C2BMC, our teams are dedicated to developing and delivering innovative solutions to address our customers' most complex challenges, including cyber-resilient mission systems, within an Agile environment. This position is based at Schriever AFB (Task Order 60 and Task Order 03). The successful candidate will be capable of diagnosing, mitigating, and troubleshooting issues efficiently, and will contribute as part of an on-site team providing 24x7 support for globally dispersed C2BMC application suites operating across different time zones. Essential Functions:

• Will lead or participate in system troubleshooting, problem resolution, and maintenance activities, including both on-site and remote telephonic support

• Serve as a subject matter expert for C2BMC applications, offering Level 2 troubleshooting, break/fix solutions, and preventative maintenance support, involving regular communication with remote C2BMC sites and various levels of leadership within the C2BMC Command Center

• Must be a proactive problem solver, capable of planning, coordinating, directing, and managing individual projects with minimal supervision

• Our Level 2 Systems Engineers are empowered to think innovatively, from automating system provisioning to improving enterprise monitoring

• Performs other related duties and assignments as needed

• The position is usually Monday through Friday. Potential surges may require on-call support in the evenings and on weekends during system anomalies and/or tests

Basic Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor's Degree in STEM Computer Science, Information Technology, System Engineering, Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or a related field from an accredited university is preferred, along with 8 years of experience; or a Master's degree ( preferred ) in a STEM-related field with 6 years of relevant work experience; or PhD in a related field with 4 years of relevant work experience
  • Applicants must have a current, active in-scope DoD-issued Top Secret/SCI security clearance at the time of application, which is required to start
  • Applicants must have a current, active DoD 8140 certification at IAT Level II or higher (such as Security+, GSEC, SCNP, SSCP, CISSP, CISA, GSE, SCNA, etc.) at the time of application. The candidate is responsible for maintaining their DoD 8140 certification throughout the entire contract period
  • Must have strong skills in system administration, monitoring, application management, and automation to ensure efficient system delivery, optimal performance, uptime, and a strong cybersecurity stance
  • Must have solid knowledge and practical experience in managing the assessment and development of Tactics, Techniques, and Procedures (TTPs) as well as Operating Instructions (OIs) necessary for effectively overseeing services within C2BMC operational environments
  • Experience with virtualization and storage technologies such as:
    • Nutanix or VMware products
    • Automation tools like Ansible, Bash, Perl, and PowerShell
  • Proven experience with Windows Domain Controllers, PKI infrastructure, and managing certificates on Windows domain controllers is essential
  • Experience with IBM DataPower products, particularly troubleshooting certificates in DataPower proxies, is necessary
  • Experience in Red Hat or other Linux-based server management required

Master's Degree in Systems Engineering

Certification: INCOSE Certified Systems Engineering Professional (CSEP) Certification

Certification: Object Management Group Certified Systems Modeling Professional - Model Builder Fundamental (OCSMP - MBF)

Additional Northrop Grumman Information:

Primary Level Salary Range: $124,900.00 - $187,300.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
