Duties
Leads and instructs a group of three or more aircraft mechanics in maintaining and repairing transient aircraft. Serves as lead for subordinate crew chiefs of transient aircraft, responsible for performing, coordinating, and/or overseeing maintenance on the aircraft when needed, and responsible for the total airworthiness of the transient F-16 aircraft. Meets and guides aircraft across active runways to designated parking area, directs aircraft into parking position, secures aircraft by chocking wheels, attaching ground wires, and installing lock pins and engine covers. Serves as lead and provides technical assistance on larger and more complex operations such as jacking aircraft and crash recovery methods and procedures. Operates heavy load refueling vehicles, for dispensing of aviation fuels and defueling aircraft. Sets up and operates a large variety of powered and non powered aerospace ground equipment (AGE), such as auxiliary power units, deicers, runway sweepers, la y truck, air start units, nitro carts, and auxiliary heating and cooling units. Performs other duties as assigned.

Must have at least 24 months of Specialized Experience in each of the following :
1. Experience installing, adjusting, aligning, troubleshooting and functionally testing the various major and minor mechanical and pneudraulic systems on an aircraft during overhaul or modification.
2. Experience coordinating work with other mechanics, and scheduling maintenance to ensure completion of critical actions and optimum workflow.
3. Experience instructing lower graded mechanics, military and other personnel in aircraft maintenance procedures, technical aspects of aircraft systems, and safety practices.
4. Experience which demonstrates the ability to plan, organize, and lead the work of others in fields directly related the repair function of this occupational series.
5. Experience performing administrative functions; to read and interpret a variety of technical publications used in the repair of supported equipment.
6. Experience providing guidance to others in work related directly to this occupational series.
Education
Education cannot be substituted for Specialized Experience for this position.
