Job Description:
The Network Engineer is responsible for the design, implementation, and management of telecommunications networks supporting voice, data, video, and wireless services. This position works independently or under general direction on moderately complex requirements to analyze, plan, program, and implement reliable network solutions. The Network Engineer ensures effective connectivity and performance across enterprise environments and provides technical leadership for network projects and operations.
• Designs and manages telecommunications and IT networks supporting voice, data, video, and wireless capabilities.
• Develops detailed designs and plans for installation and maintenance of network systems from inception to completion.
• Analyzes network performance and defines system requirements and specifications.
• Coordinates with other information systems professionals to ensure proper implementation of network services.
• Develops alternative solutions and backup plans in conjunction with functional users.
• Manages complex applications involving all phases of network design, implementation, and analysis.
• Evaluates and estimates costs for voice and data LAN services from telecommunications carriers.
• Designs access and backbone networks using carrier services and wireless systems.
• Provides technical and administrative direction for personnel involved in network design, implementation, and operations.
• Reviews work products for correctness, adherence to design concepts, and compliance with schedules.
• Makes recommendations for approval of major network installations.
• Prepares milestone status reports and delivers presentations on network progress to stakeholders and end users.
Qualifications (Must Haves):
• Five (5) years of Networking / LAN experience
• DoD Approved 8570 Baseline Certification: IAT-II
• Computing Environment Certifications: Computing Environment: Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP), Cisco Certified Wireless Professional (CCWP), or other relevant Telecommunication Engineer Senior Cisco certifications
• Security Clearance - Must possess an active Secret Clearance (or higher) with a Tier-5 Background Investigation
