Lockheed Martin Space is seeking a Summer 2026 Intern Mechanical Engineer (Propulsion). In this role your duties will include working with engineers who have responsibility for the design, manufacture, procurement and test for the propulsion system components and assemblies. This job requires coordinating with customers, suppliers, test facilities, and other related fields including manufacturing, subcontracts, quality, structure design, analysis, systems engineering, and integration with affected subsystems and facilities. Other duties may include,
• Support Subsystem Integration
• Assist on the conceptual development, requirements definition, and design of propulsion components
• Perform trade studies to select the appropriate design solution
• Develop product performance specifications, statements of work, and supplier data requirements for components
The successful candidate will have experience and/or knowledge of:
• mechanical CAD modeling and drafting
• Understanding of mechanical and propulsion engineering principals
• Desire and ability to own technical challenges through solution
Must be a US Citizen; this position will require a government security clearance. This position is located at a Lockheed Martin industry partner facility in Magna UT.
Basic Qualifications:
• Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's degree program in Mechanical Engineering or other related engineering degree
• Understanding of static and dynamic loads principals
• Basic understanding of fluid mechanics
• Basic understanding of heat transfer principles
• Ability to obtain a secret clearance
Desired Skills:
• Familiarity with Propulsion system integration
• Knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)
• Hands on Hardware experience
• User of CREO CAD software or similar
• Ability to collaborate effectively with adjacent fields (systems engineering, electronics, structural/thermal analysis, configuration management, production, test, quality...)
• Excellent verbal/written communication, presentation and interpersonal skills with technical and non-technical audiences.
Security Clearance Statement: This position requires a government security clearance, you must be a US Citizen for consideration.

Ability to Work Remotely: Onsite Full-time: The work associated with this position will be performed onsite at a designated Lockheed Martin facility.
Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.
