About the Opportunity

DMI, LLC is seeking a Software Engineer to join us. Design, build, and support small applications, integrations, and automations that keep government IT services running smoothly. Partner with service desk, systems, and security teams to improve reliability, reduce toil, and ship user-friendly tools. Write clear documentation and deliver work that meets quality and accessibility standards.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Build and maintain lightweight apps, scripts, dashboards, and integrations (ticketing, reporting, workflow automation).
  • Improve existing internal tools: fix defects, add features, and harden for scale and resilience.
  • Participate in incident/problem/change work: diagnose issues, create hotfixes, write KB articles, and contribute to root-cause reviews.
  • Support web services and common platforms (e.g., content delivery, streaming, asset management, scheduling, Windows/Linux web services).
  • Plan and execute small releases with change records, rollback plans, and post-implementation notes.
  • Write and maintain technical docs (runbooks, SOPs, API notes) and keep them current.
  • Ensure accessibility (e.g., Section 508) for any software or web deliverables.
  • Coordinate with operations and security for events, maintenance windows, and contingency activities as needed.

Qualifications

Education and Years of Experience:
  • A Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field (such as computer science, information technology, or business administration) is often required.
  • 2 - 4+ years of experience

Required Qualifications:
  • Proficiency in one or more: C#, .NET, PowerShell, Python, or JavaScript/TypeScript.
  • Experience with REST APIs, web services, and data exchange (JSON, XML); comfortable with auth patterns (OAuth/OpenID).
  • Solid grasp of CI/CD, source control, and code reviews (GitHub/GitLab/Azure DevOps).
  • Familiarity with IT operations practices (incidents, problems, changes) and writing KB articles.
  • Working knowledge of Windows and/or Linux server fundamentals; experience with IIS or Nginx a plus.
  • Comfortable with SQL or a modern datastore; able to write simple queries and optimize for common use cases.
  • Clear, concise documentation and the habit of leaving systems easier to operate than you found them.

Nice to Have:
  • Experience with ServiceNow or another ITSM platform (flows, APIs, catalog, reporting).
  • Telephony/ACD or messaging integrations (Teams/Slack, call events, warm-transfer workflows).
  • Front-end skills for internal tools (React, basic HTML/CSS).
  • Packaging and deployment experience (MSI, winget, Docker, or similar).
