Role Overview:
The Software Engineer will apply technical knowledge and responsibility across all phases of application systems analysis and programming. This role involves the design, architecture, development, and administration of software capabilities. Engineer will implement secure, resilient solutions using practices, and will operate with appreciable latitude in developing methodology and presenting solutions to problems. This position may involve supervision of others. This position is primarily remote with travel as requested. It requires availability during EST business hours. US Citizenship is required with a Public Trust or the ability to obtain one.

Responsibilities and Duties (Included but not limited to):
- Provide knowledge in design, architecture, development, and administration of applications.
- Provide technical direction to IT support staff.
- Be responsible for activities such as program design, coding, testing, debugging, or documentation.
- Understand the business or function for which the application is designed.
- Write programs according to specifications, which may be provided by Engineers, technical architects, or other computer scientists.
- Update, repair, modify, and expand existing computer programs.
- Install and configure operating systems, other software, and routinely test installed software for error detection and other issues.
- Design and implement security systems and redundant backups to maintain data safety.
- Write custom scripts to reduce the need for human intervention and create automated solutions for the enterprise.
- Establish multi-platform versions of the software package and write tests for existing and created code to ensure compatibility and stability.
- Implement new features, enhancements, and fixes using modern programming languages and frameworks.
- Develop modular, containerized code supporting microservices and cloud deployment.
- Build and maintain interfaces and APIs that connect the application with desired systems.
- Work within Agile teams, contributing to sprint planning, backlog refinement, and daily stand-ups.
- Implement secure coding practices in alignment with Risk Management Framework (RMF ) and Zero Trust principles.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree and/or equivalency.
- Six (6) years of progressive experience demonstrating the required proficiency. | | | IT Security Designation:
- Proficiency in one or more modern programming languages (Python, JavaScript/TypeScript, Java, C#). Experience with relational databases (PostgreSQL or SQL).
- Ability to obtain Public Trust security clearance required.
Preferred Qualifications and Core Competencies:
- Prior experience supporting federal health IT programs.
- Familiarity with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) and microservices architectures.
- Knowledge of cloud environments (AWS, Azure, or DoD CloudOne).
- Experience in Microsoft development - Visual Studio, IIS, and SQL Server.
- Ability to work with other senior technical and user staff to complete projects.
- Operates with appreciable latitude in developing methodology and presenting solutions to problems.
