Role Overview:
The Junior Software Engineer will support the modernization and development of secure, scalable, and user-friendly Progressive Web Applications (PWAs. This role is hands-on with full-stack development and will contribute directly to modernizing applications using Agilepractices. The individual will support feature delivery, bug fixes, and technical enhancements, ensuring systems are secure and resilient while meeting DoD interoperability and cybersecurity requirements. This position is primarily remote with travel as requested. It requires availability during EST business hours. US Citizenship is required with a Public Trust or the ability to obtain one.

Responsibilities and Duties (Included but not limited to):
- Develop and modernize large-scale web applications using modern front-end technologies such as React, TypeScript, and Tailwind CSS, following PWA best practices.
- Implement new features, enhancements, and fixes for applications using modern programming languages and frameworks.
- Develop modular, containerized code supporting microservices and cloud deployment.
- Build and maintain interfaces and APIs that connect applications with medical, logistics, and operational systems.
- Ensure interoperability and secure data exchange across distributed and hybrid environments.
- Work within Agile teams, contributing to sprint planning, backlog refinement, and daily stand-ups.
- Support continuous integration and delivery pipelines with secure coding practices.
- Collaborate closely with system architects, testers, and cybersecurity engineers to deliver working software increments.
- Implement secure coding practices in alignment with Risk Management Framework (RMF) and Zero Trust principles.
- Participate in security scans, code reviews, and remediation activities.
- Ensure compliance with accreditation and Authority to Operate (ATO) requirements.
- Contribute to team velocity by sharing knowledge, peer reviewing code, and recommending process improvements.
- Provide technical assistance and support over the phone.
- Support ongoing research and evaluation of emerging technologies.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, Engineering, or related field; equivalent experience accepted.
- 1+ years of full-stack web application development
- Security+ Certification strongly desired.
- Proficiency in one or more modern programming languages, including C#, JavaScript/TypeScript, Python, Java, and NodeJS.
- Experience with PostgreSQL or other relational databases and SQL scripting.
- Experience in Microsoft development environment (Visual Studio, IIS, SQL Server).
- Familiarity with microservices, APIs, and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).
- Experience utilizing Agile methodologies through all phases of software development lifecycles.
- Experience using GIT, GIT repositories, and utilizing GIT best practices.
- Ability to write clean code and document work effectively.
- Ability to design effective software architectures for large development projects.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with diverse internal and external stakeholder groups
Preferred Qualifications and Core Competencies:
- Prior experience supporting federal health IT programs.
- Familiarity with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) and microservices architectures.
- Knowledge of cloud environments (AWS, Azure, or DoD CloudOne).
- Experience in Microsoft development - Visual Studio, IIS, and SQL Server.
- Ability to work with other senior technical and user staff to complete projects.
- Operates with appreciable latitude in developing methodology and presenting solutions to problems.
