Position Title: AOC Strategy Trainer

Location: Shaw Air Force Base, South Carolina

Duties and Responsibilities

The Air Operations Center (AOC) Strategy Trainer supports the 9AF AFCENT/609 Air Support Squadron (ASUS) and works in coordination with the 609th ASUS Chief of Training to assess training program requirements for positions within the Combat Operations, Combat Plans, Strategy, and Intelligence, Surveillance, Reconnaissance (ISR) divisions in support of operations and exercises at 9AF AFCENTAOC. Duties include the following:
  • Provide assistance to improve, edit, and author training material required to support the AOC Initial Qualification Training (IQT) and Mission Qualification Training (MQT) conducted by 9AF AFCENT. Review current and future training and exercise plans, Air Force instructions, and joint publications with the purpose of making recommendations on improving them as well as incorporating them into unit training programs.
  • Provide system performance assessments in support of positional verification and validation processes for new AOC systems and upgrades. Provide feedback on AOC processes and functions in the operations, plans, strategy, and ISR divisions when requested by AOC leadership.
  • Provide support to 9AF AFCENT directed exercises held at 609 ASUS. This support includes the following responsibilities: AOC refresher training, subject matter expertise to 9AF AFCENT specific Tactics, Techniques, and Procedures (TTPs), assistance with scenario development, and provide feedback to seat position performance during the exercises.
  • Provide trainer support for the In-Unit Initial Qualification Training (IUIQT) and MQT programs at the 609th AOC. These training classes are designed to support AOC personnel achieving combat mission ready certification. This includes both permanently assigned personnel, National Guard and Reserve personnel supporting the 9AF AFCENT AOC, and Airmen deploying for operational assignment at the AOC. There will be approximately ten MQT classes per year, two of which will be geared towards National Guard (NGB) members that are already Combat Mission Ready (CMR). All contractors will be certified to train a minimum of one AOC CMR position. In addition, there will be up to twelve IUIQT classes scheduled to support personnel unable to attend formal IQT training at Hurlburt Field. These classes will be scheduled on an as-needed basis.
  • Work in coordination with the 609th ASUS Chief of Training to schedule approximately 350 students annually to attend MQT conducted at Shaw AFB.
  • Assist with ensuring system readiness for 609 ASUS weapons suite for expanded operations and 9AF AFCENT directed exercises by providing system testing support to help ensure a fully mission capable weapon suite. In addition, provide subject matter expertise to support 609 ASUS's portions to the 9AF AFCENT plan for reach back operations.
  • Serve as SCIF Assistant Manager / Contractor Special Security Representative (CSSR) for 609 ASUS. Manage the daily operations and scheduling of the SCIF and its equipment/services, ensuring compliance with DoDM 5105.21 and IC 700 series, and local security publications, using Joint Personnel Adjudication System (JPAS) or other system of record to manage facility access and validate clearances of assigned and visiting personnel. Assist with developing and administering a robust Security, Education, Training, and Awareness (SETA) program, indoctrination, and network account paperwork for assigned SCIF personnel, and opening/closing the facility during normal work hours.

Knowledge and Qualifications
  • Rated officer with minimum of eight years' experience in U.S. Air Force, Navy, or Marines.
  • Minimum of one year of experience in AOC strategy division or graduate of intermediate or senior level service school or graduate of Joint Air Operations Planning Course.
  • Minimum of one year of experience using Microsoft Office suite.
