We are looking for a Principal Supplier Quality Engineer based in Sykesville, MD.
This is a full-time onsite position and may require up to 25% travel.
This position is part of our Supplier Performance Management (SPM) team and reports directly to the Manager Supplier Quality for the Sykesville site. The qualified candidate will support all programs at the site.
This Supplier Quality Engineer will be responsible for the following activities:

Primary Level Salary Range: $95,800.00 - $143,600.00
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.

We are looking for a Principal Supplier Quality Engineer based in Sykesville, MD.

This Supplier Quality Engineer will be responsible for the following activities:
- Responsible for Supplier Quality risk management- implementing proactive supplier performance management strategy.
- Develops and implements supplier quality evaluation and control systems.
- Assures supplier process and product quality, including contractual, regulatory, and technical compliance.
- Interfaces directly with supplier personnel and must be knowledgeable in and capable of assessing both supplier quality and manufacturing processes and procedures.
- Conducts product and process verification activities, monitors supplier quality performance, and drives root cause corrective action analysis (RCCA) for supplier quality issues.
- Supports the maintenance of the approved supplier list and periodically reviews supplier performance to determine whether suppliers should remain on the approved list.
- Manages supplier requests for waivers, deviations and discrepancy reporting process.
- Keeps management apprised of supplier performance, quality status, and risks. Coordinates and oversees Supplier Quality plan implementation through all program phases.
- Actively engages in supplier evaluation, qualification and selection as part of the Business Acquisition Process (BAP) and as new procurements are required on existing programs.
- Manages implementation of Supplier Quality processes, including supplier approval activities, source selection evaluations, supplier classification designation (Critical, Key and Standard), development and execution of risk assessments and mitigation plans, and supplier quality requirements development and flow-downs.
- Travels to suppliers as required to achieve positive outcomes
- Fosters a collaborative culture that sustains momentum around engagement, problem solving, and continuous improvement.
- Serves as a "strong voice for quality" and a role model for NG Values
Basic Qualifications for Principal Supplier Quality Engineer :
- Bachelor's Degree with a minimum of 5 years of quality, manufacturing or related experience OR a Master's Degree with a minimum of 3 years of quality, manufacturing or related experience.
- Must be able to travel up to 25% of the time.
- Must be able to obtain a DOD Secret Clearance.
- US Citizenship required
Preferred Qualifications for Principal Supplier Quality Engineer:
- Experience with ISO 9001 / AS9100 Quality Management System certification process.
- Bachelor's Degree in mechanical or electrical engineering
- Strong background in circuit card assembly manufacturing
- Experience in root cause analysis and corrective action
- Current active security clearance
- Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt Certification
- Supplier quality experience
- Demonstrated problem solving ability
- Knowledge of ISO 9001 or AS9100 requirements
- Knowledge and experience with IPC 600, IPC 610, IPC-2222, IPC-2223, IPC-CC-830, and/or IPC-7711/7721
