Position Title: Information System Security Engineer (ISSE)
Status: Permanent

Summary: We are seeking an Information System Security Engineer (ISSE) to support a unified and integrated cyber operations environment with end-to-end visibility and control. The ISSE will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining secure systems, ensuring compliance with RMF, NIST, DISA STIGs, and DoD cybersecurity policies. This role collaborates with program, engineering, and operations teams to protect mission-critical systems in a single, cohesive framework for network and cybersecurity capabilities.
Responsibilities:
Design, develop and implement secure system/network architecture and configurations across components
Conduct threat modeling, vulnerability assessments, and establish hardened baselines
Lead Risk Management Framework (RMF) activities including assessment, authorization and continuous monitoring
Draft and maintain key security artifacts: System Security Plans, SECONOPs, Program Protection Plans, Anti-Tamper strategies, and Security Concepts of Operations, and Plan of Actions & Milestones (POA&Ms)
Serve as a liaison with program and intelligence stakeholders to align security requirements with enterprise standards
Define system boundaries, implement, and test security controls and manage remediation via tools like eMASS/XACTA
Collaborate with engineers, developers, and ops teams to integrate cybersecurity from design to deployment
Provide guidance on Zero Trust, DevSecOps practices, and network architecture for program modules
Conduct routine system audits, vulnerability scanning (ACAS, HBSS), patch management and security control assessments
Support incident response planning, disaster recovery, and risk management efforts
Requirements/Experience:
BA/BS/MS degree in quantitative field such as engineering or mathematics
Minimum of ten (10) years experience with Master’s or fourteen (14) years experience with Bachelor’s
Minimum of three (3) years cyber security experience focused in systems engineering or systems administration for enterprise services
Required Certifications:
Agile Developer or Certified Scrum Developer certification
CompTIA Advanced Security Practitioner (CASP) or Certified Information System Security Professional (CISSP)
Strong collaboration, interpersonal and organizational skills
Exceptional verbal, written and presentation skills
Must be a US citizen and hold or be able to obtain a Department of Defense (DoD) Secret Security Clearance
