Scope of Work:
The role will support the Cloud Engineering, Transition, and Modernization Support Services (CETM) for Naval Information Warfare Center Atlantic (NIWC Atlantic) in support of the Enterprise Engineering and Integration Services (E2IS) Integrated Product Team (IPT). The position is for the Configuration Manager of a significant Defense related cloud-environment for military service business systems. The Configuration Manager will be involved with application analysis, documentation, virtualization, modernization, migration planning, business process reengineering, data preparation, migration planning, interface transition planning, training on Cloud Service Offerings (CSO) environment, service transition planning, cutover planning, back out planning, and go-live support. This support also requires associated transition and/or modernization support services to migrate legacy systems from their current hosting environments.
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Develop and implement configuration management strategies, processes, and procedures.
• Maintain and control the configuration of software, hardware, and network components across the organization.
• Oversee the configuration of new systems, including the setup and installation of software and hardware.
• Manage change requests, maintain configuration baselines and databases (CMDBs), and ensure adherence to government and industry standards.
• Create and maintain configuration baselines while ensuring all changes are documented and compliant with established policies.
• Monitor and track configuration items throughout their lifecycle to ensure accuracy and consistency.
• Collaborate with IT, development, and operations teams to ensure smooth integration of configuration management practices.
• Conduct regular audits and reviews of configuration settings to identify and resolve discrepancies.
• Ensure that configuration management tools and practices remain effective and scalable as organizational needs evolve.
• Provide training and support to staff on configuration management processes and best practices.
• Ensure compliance with internal policies and external regulations related to configuration management.
Requirements/Experience: five (5) to ten (10) years of Configuration Management professional experience with configuration management issues associated with maintaining and controlling all hardware inventory, documentation, product releases, and software versions. Individual will also work closely with the Configuration Control Board in defining and implementing procedures for releasing new products throughout the entire life cycle and shall provide change management and product configuration management guidance. Direct experience with Configuration Management of a multi-application Cloud environment is preferred.
Education: Bachelor’s degree in IT related field is preferred. Significant formal training (technical/trade school) in software Configuration Management is acceptable in place of the Bachelor’s degree.
Required Clearance:
• Active Secret Clearance with T5 Investigation required for Privileged Access
Preferred Skills and Experience:
• Certifications in configuration management or ITIL (e.g., ITIL Foundation).
• Experience with cloud infrastructure and managing configurations in AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud environments.
• Knowledge of version control systems and deployment automation.
• Experience managing configuration for enterprise-scale applications and systems.
• Familiarity with regulatory compliance requirements related to configuration management.
