The National Security Space Business area of Lockheed Martin Space in King of Prussia, PA is a seeking an experienced, creative, high energy software professional with the ability to see the big picture but also drill down to the details when relevant.
The selected candidate will serve as a seasoned Staff Software Engineer on a team tasked with developing the
next generation Orion link simulator. Foundationally the software leverages Software Defined Radio (SDR) to transmit and receive RF, so this position will interface with a variety of engineering disciplines such as RF Tx/Rx, CPU/GPU technologies, embedded AI engines and User Interface development. The software is critical to testing the Orion manned space craft to ensure correct communication and operations of the space craft.
You will be an integral part of a software team working
on the Orion link simulation software (OLS). There are multiple facets to the software
that present exciting challenges in engineering and problem solving. The software is critical to testing the Orion manned space craft to ensure correct communication and operations of the space craft.
Basic Qualifications:
- Demonstrated proficiency in software development using C/C++, Java and/or Python languages (5 years minimum experience)
- Proficiency in developing embedded software CPUs and GPUs
- Demonstrated ability and desire to be self-sufficient and apply critical thinking skills to troubleshoot complex hardware/software issues
- Demonstrated the ability to communicate effectively and work in a collaborative, on-site environment
- The candidate must possess an Agile/Continuous improvement mindset, applying agile/lean values and principles to daily work
Desired Skills:
- A "Product" mindset, with the ability to assess the feasibility and value of features and the application of resources to develop such features
- Ability to contribute to an adaptive product roadmap, prioritizing features and requirements based on customer needs, business objectives, and technical feasibility
- Strong Communication and Collaboration skills with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and communicate complex ideas to stakeholders.
- Experience in GPS, GPS like RF signals and Software Defined Radio (SDR)
- Experience working with hardware and firmware setups, configuration and wiring
- Server Operating Systems, including RedHat Enterprise Linux
- Common Software Design Patterns such as GOF
- Familiarity with OOAD, OOP
- Ability & willingness to travel within US up to 25%
- Familiarity with work management tools such GitLab, Confluence, Jira and CI/CD Pipelines

Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.
Schedule for this Position: 4x10 hour day, 3 days off per week
