What will you do?

Job Description

The Action Officer provides the Global Deployment Center (GDC) with deployment support in accordance with established organization/office policies, regulations, and procedures. The

Action Officer establishes and maintains effective working relationships with customers and

other stakeholders of the Directorate/Office both internally and externally.

Tasks:

  • Analyze and perform actions as assigned by the COTR
    • Perform all functions of the National Reconnaissance Office (NRO) Global Deployment Center (GDC) in support of NRO personnel (government civilian, military, and contractor) traveling on official government business within the established GDC guidelines and processing timeline, which shall include:
      • Reviewing the quality of data input into the Deployment Module and conducting quality assurance (QA) reviews
      • Engaging with customers to ensure QA reviews are completed according to guidelines, with a focus on critical data points to ensure an efficient process
      • Managing and executing Deployment Advisor activities per the GDC timeline, including assigned activities, monitoring and updating the Deployment Module workflow requirements from submission to completion
    • Act as the NRO's primary resource for all deployment-related matters for official foreign travel temporary duty (TDY) assignments associated with deployment readiness, including short-notice travel requests, and filling gaps for critical/emergency travel requirement
    • Conduct pre-TDY coordination briefings, maintain file copies of required documentation, and ensure travelers complete necessary training
  • Coordinate responses and assess for accuracy prior to senior management review
    • Create and disseminate daily personnel deployment reports to NRO senior leaders, ensuring accurate data is reported based on information contained in the module.
  • Manage and execute the action tracking process, develop standard operating procedures and serve as facilitator for user requirements
    • Schedule deployment trainings, including Deployment Qualification Course (DQC), Weapons, and Commercial Issuance Facility requirements, and ensure these trainings are coordinated and completed by the service provider
  • Monitor progress on actions, generate metrics to demonstrate accountability for meeting deadlines and quality expectations; prepare periodic reports on action status and keep leadership aware of late, pending and new actions
    • Act as the NRO's primary resource for all deployment-related matters for official foreign travel temporary duty (TDY) assignments associated with deployment readiness, including short-notice travel requests, and filling gaps for critical/emergency travel requirements.
    • Conduct pre-TOY coordination briefings, maintain file copies of required documentation, and ensure travelers complete necessary training
  • Disseminate policy and legislative changes to appropriate parties internal to the NRO
    • Applying the DoD Foreign Clearance Guide, and other applicable resources to ensure compliance with NRO, DoD, and Intelligence Community (IC) rules and regulations regarding travel
  • Draft, proof-read, edit and provide final review of internal and external correspondence
    • Review and process all foreign deployment requests, including monitoring Automated Passport and Country Status (APACS) status, obtaining country and theater approvals, and verifying other country-specific requirements
  • Manage records generated during the execution of the Directorates' projects and programs in accordance with Federal laws and regulations, as well as NRO Directives and Instructions
    • Provide support to NRO personnel deployed to global locations by:
      • Conducting customer engagement, including responding to customer inquiries, covering the GDC hotline, and monitoring email accounts and the SOCOMM database
      • Maintaining accurate records, including file copies of signed Pre-TDY Instructions, training certificates, and travel orders in the assigned GDC shared folder

Do you have what it takes?

  • TS/SCI with Poly required
  • Bachelor's degree + 5 years' experience or High School/GED + 10 years' experience
  • Demonstrated experience in one or more of the following areas: federal acquisitions,
  • Department of Defense (DoD) or the /Intelligence Community (IC), and National Security policy
  • Demonstrated experience using Microsoft Office and standard computer applications
  • Demonstrated experience adapting to a rapidly changing work environment while maintaining flexibility and versatility
  • Demonstrated experience fostering solid relationships that promote cooperation and communicate expectations
  • Demonstrated experience analyzing situations and making well informed decisions
  • Demonstrated experience communicating effectively and concisely using a variety of styles and techniques appropriate to the audience
