Overview
CommIT Enterprises, Inc. is seeking a Product Owner to support a Department of Defense (DoD) software development program. The Product Owner will serve as the primary liaison between stakeholders, customers, and the Agile development team to ensure the delivery of high-quality software solutions that meet mission and operational needs. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical and communication skills, demonstrated experience with Agile delivery within a DoD environment, and the ability to translate strategic objectives into actionable user stories and prioritized backlogs.

Responsibilities
Your essential job functions will include but may not be limited to-
- Serve as the voice of the customer and key stakeholders within the Agile team.
- Develop, maintain, and prioritize the product backlog to align with program goals, user needs, and technical feasibility.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams-including developers, testers, security engineers, and Scrum Masters-to define requirements and acceptance criteria.
- Ensure backlog items are clearly articulated, traceable to higher-level requirements, and ready for sprint planning.
- Participate in Agile ceremonies such as sprint planning, daily stand-ups, backlog refinement, sprint reviews, and retrospectives.
- Work closely with stakeholders to gather feedback and validate delivered capabilities against mission objectives.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of Agile practices and software delivery processes.
- Develop and maintain documentation, metrics, and reporting on backlog health, velocity, and product progress.
- Coordinate with the Program Manager and technical leads to manage release planning, risk mitigation, and change control activities.
- Support compliance with DoD cybersecurity and configuration management standards throughout the product lifecycle.
Qualifications
Required Experience and Education:
- 3-5 years of experience as a Product Owner, Business Analyst, or similar role on Agile software development teams.
- Demonstrated experience supporting DoD or other federal programs.
- Strong understanding of Agile/Scrum principles and backlog management practices.
- Experience writing clear and concise user stories and acceptance criteria.
- Ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Familiarity with tools such as Jira, Azure DevOps, or similar Agile lifecycle management systems.
- Active DoD Secret clearance required.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- CompTIA Sec+ certification
