Job Details
The Red Hat SME would be responsible for providing technical, managerial, and administrative direction for problem definition, analysis, requirements development, and implementation for complex to extremely complex systems in the subject matter area. The SME would also make recommendations and advise on organization-wide system improvements, optimization or maintenance efforts in the following specialties: information systems architecture; networking; telecommunications; automation; communications protocols; risk management/electronic analysis; software; lifecycle management; software development methodologies; and modeling and simulation. Commensurate experience in IT and in new and related older technology that directly relates to the required area of expertise is necessary.
The Red Hat SME should have the following skills:
• Expert knowledge of RHEL, Red Hat technologies (e.g. Satellite, OpenShift, Ansible, etc.), network configuration, troubleshooting, patching, and server configuration.
• Experience with supporting RHEL 8 and 9 environments as well as OpenShift Container Platform (OCP) 4.x.
• Experience with public cloud infrastructure services such as AWS GovCloud
• Ability to validate OCP cluster environments
• Experience with managing container registries and CI/CD tooling
• Assisting with troubleshooting and resolution of problems within OCP infrastructure
• Researching and implementing changes according to best practices from vendors
• Assisting developers in utilizing AWS, Red Hat services, and OCP resources effectively
• Ability to create and maintain technical documents such as network diagrams and design documents and SOPs
• Excellent problem-solving and customer service skills
• Ability to convey technical information to non-technical individuals
• Ability to communicate clearly and succinctly both written and orally, and present products and ideas in a business-like manner.
Job Requirements:
Key Tasks and Responsibilities
• Provide OpenShift Support and assist in tuning and optimization of the OCP and AWS infrastructure
• Responsible for installation, configuration, maintenance, hardening, and monitoring of physical and virtual RHEL servers.
• Review customer designs and documentation specific to Red Hat technologies and providing recommendations for improvement based on Red Hat best practices
• Performing system diagnosis and troubleshooting of Red Hat technology related issues
• Coordinating kernel/patch upgrades and helping with related strategies
• Work with customers to update existing processes and procedures to allow a more methodical implementation of the OCP
• Providing validation of the OCP cluster environment following maintenance and upgrades
• Helping Customer define replication behavior for targeted workloads
• Providing recommendations to address Customer's security requirements
• Assist with troubleshooting and resolution of problems within OCP infrastructure; assisting with root-cause analysis for system issues
• Support of current and future-state architecture planning efforts associated with Red Hat products currently being leveraged
Required Education & Experience
• Bachelor's Degree or higher and 10 years of IT experience with at least 8 years of Red Hat-specific experience
• Experience working with or at Red Hat is preferred
The ideal candidate should be able to demonstrate working knowledge with several of the following concepts or technologies:
• Red Hat OpenShift 3.x, 4.x
• Ansible Tower, Ansible Automation Platform
• AWS GovCloud, Azure Government
