Job Description
BAE Systems is seeking an experienced IT Configuration Manager to coordinate and administer configuration management (CM) activities for enterprise systems and infrastructure. This role ensures the integrity, traceability, and standardization of configuration items across hardware, software, and documentation baselines.
The contractor support shall coordinate and administer all CM activities, including formulating procedures for and executing the introduction of changes to engineering documents; and overseeing the review of released engineering change data and change documentation activities to ensure adherence to configuration management procedures and policies. The Contractor shall leverage modern configuration, application, and life cycle-management tools and processes to maintain version control for software code, packages, libraries, containers, virtual machines, releases, and documents.
Maintain ownership of the program's Configuration Management Plan, facilitate Configuration Control Boards, and support the establishment of the Configuration Management Library. The IT Configuration Manager will actively participate in multiple Configuration Control Boards (CCBs), contributing to alignment, documentation, and continuous improvement across programs. This position will also help assess opportunities to consolidate board activities and CM data into a single, streamlined process supported by a unified CMDB. Provide support for planning and producing a configuration control and management process that will assist with implementing and sustaining procedures for controlling modifications to baseline hardware, firmware, software, and documentation to ensure the protection of the Network infrastructure against improper modifications before, during, and after implementation. Provide support for planning and producing a process for reporting and recording changes to installed baseline equipment, equipment configuration specifications, and site locations.
Coordinate the interaction between engineering, integration team, logistics, and program management to ensure appropriate changes are documented/required. Manages, maintains and coordinates the use, procurement, and license distribution for the NOS software library adhering to established OCIO software policies, procedures, and guidelines. Identifies, assigns, manages, and implements Configuration Items (CI) for the Information Technology Service Management (ITSM) platform. Act as the Asset Manager Point of Contact for the NOS, maintain inventory accountability, and integrate the assets into the ITSM process and using CIs.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Interface with the community, which includes project managers, developers, technical system owners and business system owners and serves as a resource for Release Management involvement on new projects and implementations. Participate in multiple Configuration Control Boards, providing technical input, documentation, and process consistency across teams.
  • Collaborate with engineering, integration, and program management teams to identify opportunities for consolidating configuration management activities into a single process and unified CMDB.
  • Coordinate CM processes to maintain control of hardware, software, and documentation baselines in compliance with OCIO and ITIL policies.
  • Develop, maintain, and enforce Configuration Management Plans, SOPs, and CM libraries.
  • Implement and manage Configuration Items (CIs) within the ITSM platform, ensuring accuracy and completeness of CMDB records.
  • Support release and change control through automation of version management for software code, packages, containers, and virtual machines.
  • Use Git, Terraform, and Ansible to maintain consistent build and release processes across environments.
  • Maintain accurate hardware and software inventories and ensure updates are reflected in the CMDB.
  • Conduct CM audits to verify process adherence, configuration integrity, and compliance readiness.
  • Support asset management integration with configuration management for lifecycle traceability and audit reporting.
  • Enforce and maintain Configuration Management Plans for different programs.
  • Develop, document, implement, and enforce procedures for using the CM environment.
  • Perform CM audits on the integrity of the software CM processes.


Required Education, Experience, & Skills
  • Minimum 5 years of experience managing configuration and change control in enterprise or federal environments.
  • Proven experience implementing and maintaining CMDBs using ServiceNow or Jira Service Management.
  • Strong understanding of ITIL v4 configuration and change management processes.
  • Proficiency in scripting (Python, PowerShell) for automation and reporting.
  • Experience managing version control systems (Git, Subversion) and Infrastructure as Code tools (Terraform, Ansible, Puppet, or Chef).
  • Demonstrated ability to lead or facilitate Configuration Control Board meetings and produce accurate records.
  • Strong organizational and written communication skills with attention to accuracy and detail.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across engineering, operations, and program teams.


Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills
  • The Contractor shall assign personnel to support this task who meet the minimum experience qualifications described in Attachment 2.
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or related discipline.
  • ITIL v4 Foundation or higher certification.
  • Experience working in FedRAMP, NIST, or ISO 27001 compliant environments.
  • Experience with DevSecOps or CI/CD pipelines and automated configuration validation.
  • Familiarity with asset management practices and software licensing controls.
  • Experience using ServiceNow Discovery or CMDB API integrations.
  • Exposure to cybersecurity configuration baselines such as CIS or DISA STIGs.


Pay Information
Full-Time Salary Range: $63662 - $108225

Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
