Position Overview

DirectViz Solutions (DVS) is seeking a Senior Systems Administrator (Unix/Linux) to support system administration and management operations for a range of enterprise and fleet environments. This role provides high-level support for system operations, configuration, security, and performance tuning across diverse operating systems and hardware platforms.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide system administration and management support for various hardware and operating systems (e.g., Windows, RedHat, RedHawk, macOS, HPUX, Solaris, AIX, OpenVMS, CentOS, and real-time operating systems).
  • Support a variety of desktop and mobile IT hardware architectures including VAX, ALPHA, SPARC, x86, PA-RISC, and Concurrent systems.
  • Manage and maintain local and remote terminal and thin client solutions, including thin clients, zero clients, VT/X terminals, and terminal servers.
  • Provide support for IT peripherals such as tape drives, optical drives (CD/DVD/Blu-Ray), flash media drives, printers, print servers, and plotters.
  • Perform system backup and recovery, software management, and security administration.
  • Oversee installation and configuration of hardware, operating systems, and COTS software.
  • Conduct performance tuning, troubleshooting, and resource allocation across multiple computing environments.
  • Apply network and cybersecurity best practices, leveraging tools such as firewalls and vulnerability detection systems.
  • Manage network protocols including TCP/IP and ensure alignment with DoD security standards.

Required Qualifications
  • Experience in system administration of networks and software systems in complex enterprise environments.
  • Proven experience in backup and recovery, security management, and configuration control.
  • Knowledge of network protocols, vulnerabilities, and attack detection methods.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills for hardware, software, and network-related issues.
  • Must meet DoD 8570 requirements for IAT Level III certification.
  • Active Top Secret clearance required.

Certifications (One or more required):
  • CASP
  • CISA
  • CISSP (or Associate)
  • GCED
  • GCIH

Preferred Education
  • Master's degree in Electrical/Electronic/Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or Information Systems.
