Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for a Manager Manufacturing Engineering 2 to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals within our Manufacturing Engineering organization. This leadership role is located in Palmdale CA.
The Manager, Manufacturing Engineer 2 will support the manufacturing engineering requirements of and a technologically advanced and highly diversified assembly line responsible for producing multiple configurations across all three F35 Air Vehicle variants. This role operates within a high-paced, high-rate production center, requiring strong leadership, technical depth, and the ability to drive performance and quality in a fast moving, delivery-driven environment.
The manager will have direct budget responsibility, and day to day Management for approximately 7-10 Engineers, which will include the following responsibilities:

Manufacturing Engineers for Aeronautics Systems are expected to provide technical solutions to a wide range of complex and difficult problems.
They are problem solvers who have the ability to provide results that are innovative, thorough, practical, and consistent with organization objectives.
The ideal candidate will be able to work individually as well as collaborate with a diverse group of individuals, work tactically, but with an eye towards future strategy, and exhibit solid communication skills while acting as the technical representative voice for Operations.
This position will offer a 1st shift or 2nd shift 4/10s work schedule, with every Friday off, phenomenal learning opportunities, exposure to a wide variety of projects and customers, and a very friendly team environment. We are looking for self-motivated, proactive, and goal-oriented people to help us grow our services and become even better at what we do. Candidate should be aware that occasional Friday work may be required to support program priorities, production needs, or critical delivery milestones.

Primary Level Salary Range: $129,300.00 - $193,900.00
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.

- Serve as the primary Manufacturing Engineering representative supporting the assigned Integrated Product Team (IPT), ensuring all cost, schedule and technical performance objectives are achieved in alignment with program and customer requirements.
- Provide direct leadership and technical oversight for manufacturing engineering activities related to the production, assembly and integration of the F35 air vehicle configurations within a high-rate production environment.
- Drive Air Dominance Continuous Improvement initiatives within the IPT area, identifying and executing projects that improve cost, schedule and quality performance; specifically owning Producibility and Affordability initiatives.
- Develop and maintain production plans, metrics and performance indicators, ensuring visibility to leadership on key trends.
- Ensures processes and procedures are in compliance with regulations and engineering specifications. You will also drive the team to support the production floor in a liaison role. These activities include answering assist calls from technicians, processing of MRB tags, performing root cause corrective action, and be responsive to keep production moving
- Investigate and initiate corrective action to ensure product quality; resolve quality issues that arise during the build process to ensure all parts conform to the design configuration.
- Develop tooling / fixtures to conduct the operations steps and to serve as manufacturing aids for technicians.
- Foster a culture of ethnical excellence and accountability through active coaching, development, and performance feedback of assigned manufacturing engineers.

Basic Qualifications:
- Must have a Bachelor's Degree AND 5 years of engineering experience in production assembly/fabrication including composites, metallic, coatings application, and/or production manufacturing OR Master's Degree AND 3 years of engineering experience in production assembly/fabrication including composites, metallic, coatings application, and/or production manufacturing
- Must have 2 year of prior management/leadership experience in related field
- Must have the ability to obtain a DoD Secret security clearance (US Citizenship required) as well as the ability to obtain and maintain Program Special Access
Preferred Qualifications:
- STEM Degree (Science, Technology, Engineering & Mathematics)
- Active Secret Clearance
- Proficiency in statistical process control, six sigma, and lean manufacturing methodologies.
- Experience with root cause analysis tools (e.g. Ishikawa, 5 Why, DMAIC)
- Hands on experience in tooling design, metrology or assembly fixture
- Demonstrated ability to build, develop, and mentor technical teams
- Experience in succession planning, talent development, and performance management
- Demonstrated ability to leverage data analytics to influence strategic decision making, transforming data into actionable insights that support performance improvement
- Experience with Tableau, Power BI, JMP or Minitab
- Experience with CATIA V5
