Reports to : Information Systems Officer (ISO), Information Programs Officer (IPO) or Information Management Specialist at post.
Incumbent receives day-to-day technical direction from the Department of State's Information Systems Officer (ISO), Information Programs Officer (IPO), or Information Management Specialist.
Major Duties and Responsibilities
The System Administrator's role is to administer, upgrade and when required, install servers and related components to support various applications both on server(s) and client workstations.
This includes configuring software upgrades and developing procedures for ongoing management of the server environment.
Where applicable, the System Administrator will assist in overseeing the physical security, and integrity of the embassy's IT systems.
Responds to help desk tickets as appropriate and provides timely and courteous support to customers.
Prioritizes and performs file system configuration and management; defines and perform server backups and recovery procedures. Reviews server logs for resource issues. Plans and implements server upgrades, maintenance fixes, and supplied patches.
Provides Web administration support by overseeing and maintaining SharePoint or other Web and/or SQL servers as required. Manages enterprise directory services and supporting server infrastructure. Develops and maintains server documentation materials.
Runs and tip CAT5e/6 and fiber cabling
Deploys new hard drive images using Microsoft deployment tools in accordance to DOS guidelines.
Implements policies, procedures, and technologies (including firewalls) to ensure server security.
Participates in the on-call rotation for ISC or IPC
May be assigned to perform temporary duty to constituent Posts to perform system administrator duties.
Must attend DOS provided Consular Affairs Systems training.
Qualifications :
Applicant must be at least 21 years of age with an Associate degree in Information Technology or certifications in server 2019 and Exchange Online/M365 or higher and one Microsoft Windows 10 or above Client Operating System certification.
At least two years or equivalent work experience as a System Administrator on a Local Area Network of at least 50 client workstations.
Extensive experience with Microsoft Windows Server 2019 and above; MS Exchange Online (M365); MS SQL Server 2008 and above; and Internet Information Server (IIS) 7 and above, Active Directory.
Microsoft Office Suite 2010 to include Access database(s).
Basic knowledge of Apple operating systems including iOS and Mac OS.
Basic knowledge of Samsung Android smart phones.
VMWare implementation, configuration, and administration. This includes creating and managing virtual machines within the VM environment.
Installation, configuring, and maintaining of server hardware, software applications and associated network equipment, to include SCSI, RAID, and I/O topology.
TCP/IP network protocols, firewall management, and client operating systems.
Configuration of Cisco devices via console.
Experience configuring Cisco devices with network management tools, Cisco prime, firewalls and PFSense.
Implementing and administering Microsoft Windows 10 PCs and laptops, to include BitLocker encryption.
Must be able to lift and carry a mail pouch weighing 70 lbs. for short distances. Perform other duties as assigned by the IPO or ISO.
The following Certifications are desirable, but not mandatory:
Must be a U.S. Citizen.
