Astrion has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Models and Simulations Engineer located at the Eglin AFB in Florida.
This 96 Test Wing contract position supports the Air force division. We are seeking an engineer for our operational test campaign to support next generation weapons development.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS
- Active Top Secret/SCI clearance with eligibility for Special Access
- 10+ years' experience in model-based systems Engineering (MBSE), weapon system development, testing, and evaluation.
- Master's degree in systems engineering, or related field.
- A motivated self-starter that can operate from user manuals and instructions without supervision, has strong technical skills, is a proactive problem solver, and can recognize discrepancies in sim-based data and identify the root cause.
- Familiar with simulation-based acquisition efforts.
- Knowledge and experience of back-end computer programming languages such as FORTRAN, C, C++, Python, MATLAB, etc., and aircraft testing profiles and objectives to both inform the test community and execute simulation excursions as directed or necessary.
- Test collated random samples towards a probable outcome with a given level of statistical certainty and provide a codified/digestible result to the customers.
- Experience executing Monte Carlo simulations and designing experiments to achieve a given level of statistical certainty, conducting analysis, and report writing and briefing.
- Experience running simulations in high performance computing environments, in addition to performing MATLAB and python analysis.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Serves as the conduit to the program's Models and Simulations team and the operational community to include the Air Force Operational Test and Evaluation Center (AFOTEC), Operational Test and Evaluation Force (OPTEVFOR), and others, by taking a request from the operational test (OT) community and translating that into a simulation, then understand and translate the answer back to that OT community.
- Pre- and Post-process analysis of operational and developmental test data, to include Time-Space-Position Information (TSPI), telemetry from the platform and weapon system, data link streams, and the integrated flight simulation.
- Conducts simulation studies to support pre/post flight and Verification, Validation, and Accreditation (VV&A) activities for operational and developmental testing.
- Responsible for pre- and post-process data analytics techniques and their application to test design and analysis in addition to modeling and simulation experimentation.
