Senior Electrical Engineer: Hardware for National Security
Impact Statement: Build the integrated hardware that powers autonomy and command-and-control for critical national security and defense missions. Youll design rugged, high-reliability systems deployed in active field operations globally, directly impacting mission success.
The Mission: Immediate Impact & Ownership
We develop essential infrastructure connecting sensors, autonomous systems, and AI models into a unified platform. Commercial hardware fails in the austere conditions our operators faceso we build our own, designing for extreme environmental robustness from the start.
As our Senior Electrical Engineer, you'll own the full lifecycle of mission-critical subsystems: embedded controllers, complex RF payloads, robust power systems, and ruggedized enclosures. This is a hands-on role with minimal bureaucracy, moving from rapid prototyping to field deployment in weeks, not years. You work directly with the end-users (operators) to close real-world capability gaps.
Core Responsibilities
Advanced PCBA Design: Lead the design and delivery of custom high-density, multi-layer PCBAs (schematics, layout, manufacturing files) for embedded control, power distribution, and advanced sensor integration. Focus on signal integrity analysis and power plane optimization for reliable operation in noisy environments.
Rugged Reliability: Select and validate components built to survive extreme temperatures, vibration, and ingress protection (IP) requirements. Conduct rigorous Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Design for Test (DFT) reviews.
System Integration: Collaborate closely with mechanical and software teams early in the design phase to ensure robust end-to-end performance and seamless embedded systems integration, particularly regarding thermal mitigation and enclosure grounding.
Test & Deploy: Conduct rigorous hardware bring-up, debugging, functional testing, and execute detailed environmental qualification test plans. Travel for on-site system deployment is required.
Must-Haves
5+ years of industry experience taking complex, high-reliability PCBAs into volume production.
Deep expertise in high-speed digital design, signal integrity analysis, and power electronics/custom magnetics.
Proven proficiency in schematic capture and layout using modern PCB design software (e.g., Altium, KiCAD) and circuit simulation (e.g., LTSpice).
Experience with advanced testing tools: oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and spectrum analyzers.
A growth mindset and familiarity leveraging modern software tools (Git, OnShape) to maximize productivity and streamline iteration.
Bonus Points
Active U.S. Security Clearance or the ability to obtain one.
Expertise in RF front-end design, matching networks, filtering, and antenna integration for communications payloads operating in challenging spectrum environments.
Experience in Aerospace or Defense hardware design, focused on MIL-STD compliance.
Proven ability to design for extreme environmental robustness (thermal management, shock/vibe mitigation).
If you thrive on speed, ownership, and building systems that matter in the real world, this is your team.
