ELECTRONICS MECHANIC

Duties

• You will determine the method of installation, nature of trouble and extent of repairs required, also in determining the work sequence and selection of tools and instruments for tests or measurements.
• You will make additional tests or alignments necessary to maintain maximum operating efficiency to a variety of systems.
• You will assist and instruct lower grade employees in repairing electronic equipment.
• You will be assigned collateral duties maintaining and supporting shop functions.

• This position requires lifting and carrying objects up to 40 pounds. Any weight lifted in excess of 40 pounds will not be attempted unaided.
• You may be required to work all shifts on a rotational basis including overtime.
• You may be required to participate in a medical surveillance for noise and sight and respirator.
• There is the possibility of exposure to cuts, electrical shock, strains, broken bones, and contact with industrial materials such as cleaning chemicals, solvents, oils, and greases.
• May occasionally be required to use toxic chemicals and/or work in presence of toxic fumes, requiring use of appropriate breathing apparatus.
• Subject to loan or detail into other shops to meet mission requirements.
• There is the possibility of exposure to cuts, electrical shock, strains, broken bones, and contact with industrial materials such as cleaning chemicals, solvents, oils, and greases.
• May be required to travel, as needed.

Qualifications

Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most trade and labor occupations, you must show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. Qualification requirements emphasis is on quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time.

I have the ability to perform the most difficult and complex tasks including: Independently performs depot level overhaul, disassembly, repair, modification, assembly, testing, troubleshooting, alignment, installation and maintenance on electronic equipment and complete operational systems consisting of complex and numerous integral components; 2) Services complex functionally independent components or systems; 3) Installs, modifies, overhauls, maintains, troubleshoots, and repairs complex electronics equipment and a complete operational system (s) consisting of numerous complex integral components, such as, communications security (COMSEC) systems; computerized avionics/airborne navigation systems; fire control systems for guns, missiles, and other weapons; air traffic control search radar systems; and electronic countermeasures systems which requires knowledge of a wide range of electronics principles and practices; 4) Must have a thorough knowledge of operating electronic principles such as microminiaturized digital and solid state integrated circuits, transistors, diodes, tube circuits, antennas, signal transmission, oscillation, and amplification. I am considered an expert and work with a high degree of independence.

Subject to various noise levels which occasionally exceeds 85 DBA. Hearing protection must be worn for noise levels of 85 DBA and double protection is required for levels over 105 DBA.
