Duties

  • You will provide direction and instruction to subordinates.
  • You will develop plans and directives for the operation and utilization of unaccompanied housing.
  • You will develop and manage innovative business practices and dynamic programs such as Housing Referral Program, planning, scheduling, and coordinating all housing projects and associated facilities for the installation.
  • You will perform or direct periodic or scheduled surveys, audits, reviews, and inspections to determine housing conditions or requirements.
  • You will direct the development and justification of the three-year budgetary requirements, five-year plan and the annual operations and maintenance budget for housing based on known and anticipated requirements.
  • You will oversee the development and implementation of housing forms and reports to measure achievement of goals, inventory management, community assets utilization, and the financial assets required to operate housing programs.

  • This position may require travel to places within and outside the contiguous United States which could include remote or isolated sites. You may be required to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • If eligible for permanent change of station, the appointee will be required to sign a transportation agreement to establish a Government time in service requirement of 12 months.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Passport.
  • May be required to obtain a VISA dependent on the overseas country's laws/regulations.
  • You will be required to sign the Statement of Understanding for Overseas Employment acknowledging receipt and understanding of the statement of living and working conditions for this location.
  • Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.
  • Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver's license.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • You will be required to complete training, obtain, and maintain a government credit card for travel and travel-related purchases.
  • Supervisors in the executive branch have a heightened personal responsibility for advancing government ethics. You will be required to review the 14 General Principles of Ethical Conduct at 5 CFR 2635.101.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-11) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector: Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:1) Using Federal housing regulatory guidelines in planning, budgeting, scheduling, coordinating and managing resources to ensure efficient operation; 2) Utilizing residential property management to maintain housing units (including utility systems, roads, grounds, streets and facilities); 3) Applying fund management principles to execute the budget for assigned projects; 4) Communicating effectively to negotiate with officials at higher organizational levels, contractors and residents; and 5) Directing the application of housing management operations, techniques, principles, concepts and methodology to administrate an installation housing program. The NATO Status of Force Agreement (SOFA) between Greece and the United States prohibits the hiring of any person who holds Greek citizenship/nationality as part of the civilian component with the US Forces in Greece. Souda Bay is a location that is a without the Department of Defense Education Activity (DODEA) support normally associated with an overseas assignment. Choosing the educational option that will be most effective for your child will be a critical decision you will have to make. The participating International schools located on the Island of Crete are not conducive for High School Students preparing for College and most high school students attend boarding school. Priority consideration will be given to military spouse preference and family member preference eligible residing in the commute area of the duty location for this position. Commute area is defined as the geographic area surrounding the duty location in which people can reasonably be expected to travel back and forth daily.
