AI/UX Engineer

Overview

i3 is seeking a talented professional to join our team in Huntsville, AL in support of cloud-based DevSecOps programs and Missile Defense System implementations with multiple layers of protection.

We are seeking an innovative AI/UX Engineer who combines artificial intelligence expertise with user experience design capabilities. This unique hybrid role requires both technical engineering prowess in AI/ML systems and creative design skills to deliver intelligent, user-centered solutions for mission-critical defense systems. The ideal candidate will bridge the gap between complex algorithmic implementations and intuitive user interfaces.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and implement AI-driven applications with intuitive, user-centered interfaces
• Create robust Optimization Engines and Business Rule-driven applications that deliver both sophisticated functionality and exceptional user experiences
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders to identify target user groups, determine user needs, and translate requirements into AI-enhanced solutions
• Produce high-quality deliverables including flow diagrams, wireframes, visual mockups, storyboards, prototypes, and technical architectures
• Design and implement graphic user interface elements (menus, tabs, widgets) for complex AI/ML applications
• Conduct user testing on AI-powered interfaces, analyze results, troubleshoot issues, and implement improvements
• Leverage design thinking and engineering methodologies to develop strategies where requirements are undetermined or unclear
• Ensure AI systems are explainable, transparent, and accessible to end users through thoughtful UX design

Qualifications

Education & Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field required (additional experience may substitute for degree)
• Years of relevant experience: 0-5

Technical Skills

• Experience in development of robust Optimization Engines and optimization algorithm implementation into large-scale software packages
• In-depth knowledge of design tools including Photoshop, Illustrator, XD, After Effects, Adobe Creative Suite, and prototyping tools (Sketch, Figma, Balsamiq, etc.)
• Proficiency in creating wireframes, visual mockups, and low/high-fidelity design prototypes
• Understanding of AI/ML principles and Rule-Based systems implementation
• Experience designing interfaces for complex, data-driven applications
• Ability to translate technical AI/ML concepts into user-friendly visualizations and interactions

Clearance Requirements

• Active Secret clearance required
• U.S. Citizenship required

Work Schedule & Location

• Location: Huntsville, AL
• Hours: 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m., Monday-Friday (additional hours may be required on occasion)
• Regular and punctual attendance is required
