  • Assists the Youth Sports Director in the oversight, planning, and administration of the youth sports and fitness program to include organizing seasonal sports, for the dependent youth of Osan AB.
  • Performs and/or assists in operation and maintenance of indoor and/or outdoor recreation facilities and fields.
  • Schedules the use and ensures pre­game preparation of sports facilities and equipment.
  • Performs weekly safety check of all areas for playing of sports to include equipment.
  • Provides all youth with opportunities for participation in sports.
  • Provides leisure skills development for youth.
  • Orders and maintains stock control of funds for equipment/supplies, uniforms of all sports.
  • Assists with the planning of clinics for all youth before each sports event season, and preparation of team rosters.
  • Maintains an active volunteer program for coaches and volunteers.
  • Ensures volunteers receive required training, i.e., CPR, first aid, etc.
  • Ensures proper certification of coaches and maintains documentation.
  • Ensures youth sports participants have required physical examinations.
  • May oversee Youth Sports operation in absence of Youth Sports Director.
  • May be required to transport children to and from off-base facilities while operating a small truck/van/and/or 15 passenger vehicles.

  • This position requires satisfactory completion of pre-employment checks in accordance with Air Force and DoD policy, and a Child Care Tier 1 background investigation.
  • This position has physical lifting requirement which requires the incumbent to complete a favorable pre-employment physical.
  • This position requires the incumbent to be able to obtain, maintain, and provide evidence of current immunizations this includes annual influenza vaccinations and be free of all communicable diseases.
  • Priority consideration will be given to military spouse preference and family member preference eligible candidates residing in the commuting area of the duty location for this position within the local area of Osan AB (60-mile radius)
  • Commuting area is defined as the geographic area surrounding the duty location in which people can reasonably be expected to travel back and forth daily. Applicants outside the commuting area will NOT be considered.
  • No transportation, travel, PCS, or relocations expenses will be paid.
  • This position requires the incumbent to be at least 18 years of age.
  • Direct Deposit and Social Security Card is required.
  • Irregular hours to include nights and weekends
  • This is a drug testing designated position. The incumbent is subject to random testing for drug use.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application.

Qualifying Experience:
Resumes must be two pages (or less). Resumes should clearly demonstrate the applicant's relevant experience, skills, knowledge and abilities as they pertain to this position.

Experience that provided a knowledge of the goals, principles, methods, and techniques of recreation, and an understanding of the interests of individuals or groups.

Specialized experience: experience that demonstrated the ability to apply the principles of one or more specialty areas of recreation. Qualifying specialized experience includes:
  • planning, organizing, coordinating, supervising, or evaluating recreational programs/recreational curriculum
  • instructing in the principles/techniques of recreational program planning and management.

Education: Possess an undergraduate (associate or bachelor's degree) or graduate (Masters' degree) in general recreation, or one of the appropriate fields of recreation such as outdoor recreation and parks; recreation management; youth, public, urban or community recreation or physical education.

In addition, possess strong organization and planning skills. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Must be able to lift and carry up to 45 lbs.

You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas:

Education

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. This position does not allow for education substitution in order to qualify.

FOREIGN EDUCATION: Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the requirements. You must show proof the education credentials have been deemed to be at least equivalent to that gained in conventional U.S. education program. It is your responsibility to provide such evidence when applying.
