We are seeking an experienced Anti-Tamper (AT) System Security Engineer to lead the design, implementation, and verification of security measures that protect Critical Program Information (CPI) across the system development lifecycle.
This role serves as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in Anti-Tamper and Program Protection for advanced defense systems, ensuring compliance with DoD and NIST security frameworks.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the development and implementation of Anti-Tamper (AT) measures throughout the System Development Lifecycle (SDLC).
Serve as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for Anti-Tamper technologies and methods.
Identify and assess Critical Program Information (CPI) using DoD 5200.39 guidance.
Conduct trade studies, threat assessments, and countermeasure analyses.
Engineer secure and trustworthy systems in alignment with NIST SP 800-160.
Develop and maintain Program Protection Plans (PPP), Cybersecurity Strategies, Security Classification Guides (SCG), and AT Plans.
Collaborate with customers, program teams, and leadership on AT requirements, cost, implementation, and risk trade-offs.
Perform Verification and Validation (V&V) activities to ensure AT effectiveness.
Provide DoD software selection and approval processes for COTS, GOTS, and FOSS components.
Support security engineering activities including requirements, design, testing, configuration management, and maintenance of secure systems.
Assist in developing policies and procedures for emerging security technologies.
Lead or support vulnerability assessments, obsolescence replacements, and security architecture improvements.
Apply Risk Management Framework (RMF) processes for accreditation and authorization (A&A) including steps 1–4 and Body of Evidence (BoE) package development.
Assess security and privacy controls for embedded systems using NIST 800-53.
Mentor and guide junior engineers on AT and security best practices.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 9 years of relevant experience
— OR Master’s degree with 7+ years of experience
— OR 13+ years of experience in lieu of a degree.
Active Secret Clearance (Collateral level or higher).
Ability to obtain and maintain DoD 8140 certification (or NIST 800-181 equivalent) within 6 months of start.
Proven experience in Anti-Tamper design and implementation for the protection of CPI.
Preferred Skills
Experience using cyber defense and vulnerability assessment tools such as ACAS and SCC.
Familiarity with NSA Type 1 cryptographic certification and High Assurance devices.
Knowledge of IASRD and SERD documentation standards.
Prior experience applying RMF processes to embedded systems.
