Description
seeking experienced Low Voltage Technicians to support a long-term federal infrastructure project at Fort Meade. Technicians will be responsible for building out telecom closets, installing and configuring racks and cabinets, terminating fiber optic and copper cabling (including Cat6/Cat6a shielded and multipair voice cable), and performing testing using Fluke equipment. The role requires extensive fusion splicing experience, preferably with Fujikura 9DS splicers, and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

The team operates on a consistent schedule from 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM, with a 45-minute lunch and 15-minute morning break. This is a hands-on, fast-paced environment where precision, reliability, and teamwork are essential.

Top Skills Details
1. Fiber Splicing (Fusion Splicing)
Core Skills:
Fusion Splicing Experience: Must have completed 1,000+ splices; this is a high-volume fiber job.
Fujikura 9DS: Familiarity with this specific fusion splicer is required.
Ribbon Cable: Experience with ribbon fiber is a strong plus.
Anaerobic Connectors: Should be able to confidently discuss and use anaerobic fiber connectors.
Slack Management: Ability to re-terminate pre-terminated fiber cables due to excess slack.

1. Basic Hand Tool Proficiency

Experience with:
Setting up racks and cabinets
Populating racks with patch panels, cable management, and network gear
Labeling and organizing cables per site standards

3. Self-Sufficiency & Readiness
Must be able to hit the ground running with minimal supervision
No time for on-the-job training — candidates must be fully capable from day one
Ability to follow direction and complete tasks independently

Minimum 5 years of experience (YOE) in low-voltage cabling
Certifications preferred (e.g., BICSI, fiber certifications)
Must have own tools (screwdrivers, pliers, punch-down tools, etc.)
Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Per diem available for travel over 70 miles
