MEANINGFUL WORK AND PERSONAL IMPACT
As a Systems Engineer, the work you'll do at GDIT will be impactful to the mission of U.S. Army Europe & AFRICOM. As a Systems Engineer, your expertise at GDIT will directly safeguard U.S. Army Garrison installations by securing industrial control systems (ICS), physical security systems (PSS), and their critical transport infrastructure.

• Designs, deploys, and manages Private Cloud infrastructure (on-premises and hybrid) and integrates Azure Government services for secure, scalable, and compliant ICS/PSS virtualization, ensuring high availability and RMF-accredited operations.
• Configures, hardens, and maintains virtualized ICS environments (e.g., SCADA, HVAC, power, utilities) and PSS platforms (e.g., access control, CCTV, intrusion detection) at Army Garrisons using VMware vSphere, Hyper-V, and container.
• Leads physical-to-virtual (P2V) migrations of legacy ICS/PSS servers; implements virtualized Backup & Replication for resilient virtual infrastructure backups, disaster recovery, and rapid restoration of mission-critical Garrison workloads.
• Enforces virtual infrastructure integrity and cybersecurity controls; conducts incident response, patch management, and compliance audits to protect classified/unclassified data and maintain ATO status.
• Leverages advanced knowledge of ICS protocols, PSS integration, DoD cybersecurity standards, and virtualization/cloud platforms. Works independently with general supervision on complex accreditation and infrastructure challenges. Influences Garrison mission readiness through risk assessments, policy enforcement, and stakeholder coordination. Requires moderate-to-advanced proficiency in RMF, STIG compliance, secure ICS/PSS virtualization, Veeam, VMware, Hyper-V, and Azure Government.

WHAT YOU'LL NEED TO SUCCEED

• Education: Bachelor of Arts/Bachelor of Science
• Experience: 8+ years' experience of server infrastructure implementation and administration
• Technical skills: Strong understanding of virtualization technologies (hypervisors, VMware ESXi, Hyper-V); Expertise in major VDI platform (VMware Horizon, Azure Virtual Desktop, Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops); Experience in scripting and automation tools; hands-on experience with Azure Private Cloud, Windows 11 secure host baseline, Windows Server 2019/2022; Proficient in ACAS/Tenable, Splunk, Powershell, and STIG hardening toolsets; proficiency in networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, SSL/TLS), storage solutions, and virtual network configurations relevant to distributed, segmented and closed environments.
• Security clearance level: Secret Level Security Clearance(ability to obtain a Top Secret)
• US citizenship required
• Role requirements: Microsoft Certified Systems Expert (MCSE), CompTIA Security+, Network-related certification
