TEKsystems is seeking fiber testers to support a Base Infrastructure modernization project across US Air Force Bases.
Key Responsibilities:
• Testing and Certification:
o Perform testing on fiber optic cables using equipment such as OTDR, and Power Meters.
o Certify the integrity and performance of fiber optic installations according to industry standards.
o Must be proficient with Fluke Versiv Power Meter and OTDR test gear.
• Documentation:
o Maintain accurate records of test results, including test data reports and certification documentation.
o Provide Progress Reports and Test Documentation to the Site Lead daily.
Qualifications:
• Education and Certification:
o High school diploma or equivalent.
o Certification in Fiber Optic Testing and/or Fiber Optic Technician certification is preferred.
• Experience:
o Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in fiber optic splicing and testing.
o Experience with OTDR testing, power meter testing, and light source testing.
• Skills:
o Proficiency in using fiber optic testing equipment and tools.
o Strong understanding of fiber optic cable types, connectors, and standards.
o Ability to read and interpret technical diagrams and schematics.
o Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
o Strong analytical skills for data interpretation and reporting.
o Adherence to safety standards and protocols is mandatory.
o Effective communication skills.
o Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
o Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
Additional Skills & Qualifications:
- Must be willing and able to travel for 3-5 months.
