Major Responsibilities:
Level I -Evaluates, selects, and applies standard electrical engineering methods, techniques, procedures, and criteria for a small size project or assignment.
Designs, develops, modifies, and evaluates components and processes utilizing relevant Engineering Department Procedures (EDPs), design standards and guides, and Bechtel Standard Application Programs (BSAPs).
Prepares or assists in preparation of studies, designs, reports, or proposals.
Coordinates electrical engineering efforts other engineering disciplines, the client, vendor, contractors, construction, and other functional groups.
Provides assistance to project and construction management in identifying and complying with project electrical requirements.
Level II - Plans and conducts independent electrical work requiring judgment in the evaluation, selection, application, and adaptation of electrical engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria on a medium size.
Supports preparation of estimates, staffing needs, and schedules.
Prepares or oversees the preparation of discipline estimates and work plan in accordance with project scope, schedule and budget.
Coordinates with client representatives, as directed, to obtain their approvals.
Support design development of electrical systems and equipment design for the Sentinel project by preparing engineering studies, drawings, calculations, specifications, and evaluations, in accordance with applicable procedures, codes, standards, and contract requirements.
Develops new design drawings such as single lines, panel schedules, schematics, cable block diagrams, grounding, lightning protection, cathodic protection, and more.
Performs power system analysis modeling and calculations utilizing ETAP. Calculations will include Load Flow, Short Circuit, Motor Starting, Relay Coordination, Arc Flash.
Other facility calculations include, lighting design, facility ground grid sizing and underground cable thermal de-rating analysis.
Performs equipment sizing calculations such as transformers, panel boards, uninterruptable power supplies, and battery sizing calculations.
Develops equipment and material specifications utilizing the software SpecsIntact.
Develops procurement documentation as well as perform supplier proposal evaluations.
Coordinates systems requirement development and verifications with systems engineering and the client.
Required Knowledge/Skills:
Must be a US citizen.
Must be able to complete and pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check which includes verification of employment and education.
Possess active security clearance or ability to obtain security clearance.
Experience with Microsoft office programs, and other common computer programs.
Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written).
Ability to utilize engineering and office automation tools effectively.
Knowledge of industry and regulatory guides, codes, and standards.
Broad knowledge of the application of Electrical engineering design principles.
Strong knowledge of electrical systems for part of, or all of, the responsibilities listed above.
Strong understanding of engineering drawings, systems calculations, equipment sizing and cable sizing.
Strong knowledge of power systems load modeling and analysis.
Preferred: Registered Professional Engineer in USA (Electrical Engineering).
Preferred: Experience working with procedures meeting quality assurance programs such as ISO-9000.
Preferred: Prior experience working with government agencies, preferably the Department of Defense.
Preferred: Experience executing engineering design with Smartplant 3D.
Preferred: Experience performing calculations with ETAP.
Preferred: Understanding of Mechanical and Process engineering discipline drawings and system calculations, as related to electrical design requirements.
Preferred: Intermediate knowledge of developing CSI Masterformat specifications, or SpecsIntact.
Preferred: Design experience with Unified Facilities Criteria and the Whole Building Design Guide.
