Summary
The Direct Digital Controls Technician installs, maintains, tests, troubleshoots and repairs direct digital control systems.

Duties & Responsibilities
• Works on various portions of direct digital controls systems including maintenance, programming, installing, maintaining, repairing, troubleshooting, modifying, and testing.
• Operate and maintain Direct Digital Control Systems that controls utility and facility systems and equipment. The equipment, consisting of either many different kinds of circuits, or multiple repetition of the same kind of circuit, includes, but is not limited to the following: a) controls, programmable logic controllers, contacts, wiring; b) electronic transmitting and receiving equipment (e.g., sensors and cables); c) digital computers, and d) industrial equipment; e) computer peripherals and software.
• Applies advanced technical knowledge to solve unusually complex problems (i.e. those that typically cannot be solved solely by reference to manufacturers’ manuals or similar documents) in working on digital controls equipment. Examples of such problems include programming changes, operational troubleshooting, cable continuity, sensor calibration, isolating malfunctions, and frequent engineering changes.
• Utilizes knowledge of PC operations with DDC software.
• Creates graphic displays and program DDC controllers using software and associated programming language.
• May provide technical guidance to lower level technicians.
• Works closely with experts in the area where direct digital controls are applied.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

NOTE: May perform work in other classifications when incidental work is necessary to the accomplishment of the work assignment. Significant work in another job classification may be required if accompanied by any wage adjustments applicable.

• The proper use of tools and equipment commonly used in the direct digital controls technician field.
• Completing all mandated training requirements per government and management directives.

• Timely completion and accuracy of all departmental work.

• Adherence to established company safety policies and good industrial and office safety practices.
• Compliance with company Standard Operating Procedures and Personnel policies and procedures.
• Having the ability to work well under pressure.

Experience & Qualifications
Mandatory
• Four years’ experience in utilities trade and a minimum of one year working with DDC technology.
• Successful completion of two years formal training or equivalent in a technical field. One year of experience may be substituted for one year formal training.
• Must be thoroughly familiar with electronics, controls, telemetry devices, computer hardware, data processors, PC’s, wiring, cables.
• Must be able to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and other technical specifications.
• Must be familiar with DDC network technologies and global operations using sensors and electronic controlled devices associated with DDC systems.
• Must possess a sound working knowledge of Windows based programs.
• Must be able to perform diagnostics of hardware and software on a global network.
• Must possess and maintain a valid State issued driver’s license with acceptable driving record.
• Must meet and maintain company physical and security requirements, including respirator qualification, and clearance eligibility when required.
• Must possess good communication skills for a service team environment.
• Ability to successfully pass any background checks and/or drug testing required on the contract.
• U.S. Citizenship.

NOTE: Candidates for positions at the Naval Hospital facility must provide evidence of immunity to tetanus, measles, Rubella (a.k.a. German Measles or Three Day Measles) and mumps by providing, prior to assignment, physician-signed documentation of either immunization (vaccine) or antibody titer (blood test), and evidence of a TB (tuberculosis) test within the past year.
