Koniag Emerging Technologies, a Koniag Government Services company, is hiring a Senior Oracle DBA with a Secret clearance. Work will be performed remotely, with occasional trips to our customer's site in Washington, DC. The DBA must be able to support weekend infrastructure and release nights and be able to work one of the following shifts: 9:30 a.m. - 6 p.m. or 5:30 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. daily.

Position Overview:
The Oracle Database administrator will maintain the Oracle databases and perform routine system health checks at the beginning and conclusion of each day. This individual will support ticket resolution efforts, software deployments and routine patching. The administrator will ensure database backups are completed successfully, will resolve performance issues, and improve bottlenecks.
The Oracle Database Administrator position plays a vital role in ensuring smooth operation, continuous improvement, and backend administration for our client's applications.

- Password resets
- Oracle CPU patching
- DB refreshes
- Building and decommissioning of databases
- Oracle user account maintenance
- Scripting
- Application queries within the database
- Application integration with other department bureaus
- DB component maintenance
- Oracle Wallet and TDE (transparent data encryption) maintenance
- Support for PeopleSoft systems and other applications
- Database storage maintenance and management
- Native Oracle backups (RMAN) and schedules
- DB monitoring
- Future planning for Oracle Multitenant Architecture
- Oracle DB support on-prem and in the cloud (i.e. Azure Dev)
- Troubleshooting Oracle issues, as needed
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Oracle Quarterly CPU Patching - Coordinate and execute quarterly Critical Patch Updates to ensure database security and compliance.
- Password Resets - Manage user access by handling database and application password resets as needed.
- Oracle Database Refreshes - Perform scheduled and on-demand database refreshes across environments to maintain data consistency.
- Continuous Automation Improvements - Develop and enhance automation scripts/processes to reduce manual effort and improve efficiency.
- Morning and Evening Health Checks - Conduct daily system health checks to ensure environment stability and availability.
- Deployments - Support and perform application and database deployments across multiple environments.
- JIRA Ticket Management - Track, update, and resolve assigned tasks and incidents through JIRA.
- Oracle RAC (Real Application Cluster) administration
- Oracle Database Administration and performance tuning, Oracle Backups and Recovery Using RMAN
- Oracle Data Guard Administration/Monitoring
- Oracle Enterprise Manager Configuration/Administration/Monitoring
Required Qualifications, Experience, Skills & Abilities:
- Active Secret clearance
- BS in Computer Science or related field or equivalent experience
- Demonstrated in-depth knowledge of Oracle Database 19c administration tasks including installation, configuration, backup, and recovery processes
- Extensive experience in an Oracle 19c RAC environment
- Strong background in performance tuning
- Hands-on experience performing PL/SQL scripting
- Extensive experience leading database development for new software projects
- Experience with Linux and/or similar Unix-based servers
- Oracle Certified Professional (OCP)
- 8+ years database administration in an enterprise environment
- 2+ years' experience with Oracle 19c
- 5+ experience performing bash scripting
- 5+ years advanced troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
