As a Principal Network Administrator, you'll be responsible for monitoring the performance and security of comprehensive IT systems, including networks, servers, applications, and cloud environments. You'll apply STIGs (Security Technical Implementation Guides) to harden and secure the infrastructure, ensuring robust, resilient operations that protect sensitive data and enable mission success in a high-threat landscape. Your day-to-day responsibilities will include monitoring network performance, conducting security assessments, and securing network infrastructure.

Pay Information
Full-Time Salary Range: $115779 - $196825
Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.

Required Education, Experience, & Skills

- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
- 6+ years of experience in network administration, with a focus on performance monitoring and security in enterprise or government environments
- Proven expertise in applying STIGs to secure network, server, application, and cloud infrastructure, including hands-on experience with DoD-compliant tools and frameworks
- Active DoD Secret Clearance (must be current and transferable)
- Strong knowledge of federal cybersecurity standards (e.g., NIST 800-53, FISMA, RMF) and ITIL practices for service assurance
- Proficiency in networking protocols (e.g., TCP/IP, BGP, VPNs), monitoring tools (e.g., Nagios, PRTG), and security platforms (e.g., Cisco ASA, Palo Alto firewalls)
- Excellent analytical skills for troubleshooting complex issues across hybrid IT ecosystems under high-pressure conditions
- U.S. Citizenship required due to federal contract obligations
- Behaviors that will help someone excel in this role:
- Applies extensive expertise, and has full knowledge of other related disciplines
- Exercises considerable latitude in determining objectives and approaches to assignment
- May function in a project leadership role
Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills
Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills
- Certifications such as CCNP Security, CISSP, or CompTIA Security+ with STIG-specific training (e.g., DoD Cyber Exchange courses)
- Experience supporting DoD or large federal customers, including multi-cloud environments (e.g., AWS GovCloud, Azure Government) and application-layer security
- ITIL 4 Foundation or higher certification, with emphasis on service operation and security management
- Background in scripting (e.g., Python, Bash) for automation of STIG checks and performance reporting
- Master's degree in a relevant field or additional certifications (e.g., GIAC GSEC for advanced security hardening)
- MCSA, VCP certification
