OBXtek is staffing for a Cybersecurity Engineer. The Cybersecurity Engineer provides comprehensive technical support to ensure the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of information systems and networks supporting the U.S. Army PEO IEW&S mission. The individual applies advanced cybersecurity and risk management expertise to design, implement, test, monitor, and continuously enhance defensive cyber solutions in accordance with Department of Defense (DoD) and Army policies, standards, and operational requirements.

OBXtek is staffing for a Cybersecurity Engineer. The Cybersecurity Engineer provides comprehensive technical support to ensure the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of information systems and networks supporting the U.S. Army PEO IEW&S mission. The individual applies advanced cybersecurity and risk management expertise to design, implement, test, monitor, and continuously enhance defensive cyber solutions in accordance with Department of Defense (DoD) and Army policies, standards, and operational requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop, implement, and sustain cybers
- Security and Information Assurance (IA) strategies for all assigned systems and networks.
- Ensure system compliance with Risk Management Framework (RMF), NIST SP 800-53, and DoD/Army cybersecurity requirements to support Authority to Operate (ATO) accreditations.
- Conduct vulnerability assessments, penetration testing, security control assessments (SCA), and cyber risk analyses; recommend remediation actions.
- Prepare and maintain cybersecurity documentation, to include System Security Plans (SSPs), Plan of Action and Milestones (POA&Ms), Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and Incident Response Plans.
- Analyze and interpret security scans, audit logs, and threat intelligence in support of defensive monitoring and incident response.
- Ensure timely identification, containment, investigation, and eradication of cybersecurity threats and assist in root cause analysis.
- Advise government stakeholders on cybersecurity architecture, secure configuration management, and emerging threats.
- Collaborate with systems engineers, developers, PMs, and other technical staff to integrate cybersecurity into the lifecycle of Army systems.
- Support cyber training, security awareness, and technical consultation for Government staff as directed.
- Coordinate with Government security offices and provide technical input during assessments, audits, and inspections.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Information Assurance, or a related technical discipline from an accredited institution.
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in information security/cybersecurity roles.
- Certifications:
- Must hold an active DoD 8570/8140 Information Assurance Technical (IAT) Level II certification (e.g., Security+, CySA+, GSEC, or equivalent).
- CISSP, CISM, or similar advanced certifications preferred.
- Clearance: Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance (higher clearance may be required; reference Attachment 0006 and DD254).
- Technical Skills:
- Strong knowledge of DoD security tools (e.g., ACAS/Nessus, HBSS/ESM, Splunk).
- Proficient in system/network security hardening, auditing, and incident response.
- Demonstrated ability to prepare/review RMF and ATO documentation.
Desired Qualifications:
- Experience supporting Army PEO, program office, or other acquisition organizations.
- Working knowledge of cloud security, virtualization, and newer technologies (e.g., containers, Zero Trust).
- Experience as a cybersecurity SME in interdisciplinary engineering teams.
