Trainer/Instructor

Dual-role Instructor/Engineering Writer position.
Successful candidates will be able to fulfill customer training and engineering writing requirements for electronic systems, sensors, and radar systems in Elkridge, MD
Successful candidate will work in an Integrated Product Team (IPT) structure in fulfilling the assigned role.
As an instructor, the successful candidate develops/updates technical training curriculum and conducts customer training events in accordance with Instructional Systems Design/Systems Approach to Training (ISD/SAT) to military training standards. Training includes system theory, operation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair in both classroom/lecture and lab/hands-on environments.
As an engineering writer, the successful candidate writes, rewrites and/or edits technical publications covering operation and maintenance for sensors/systems. The engineering writer will research and compile information from contractual and engineering sources and develop technical publications that adhere to military specifications and standards. Published technical publications include hardware description, operation, maintenance and troubleshooting and repair, and parts information for a wide range of audiences.
The successful candidates will:
• Possess excellent communication (oral and written) and interpersonal skills.
• Be proactive and detail oriented.
• Possess excellent problem-solving and organizational skills and be self-motivated
• Possess the ability to publish materials in page-based, electronic (basic and interactive), and structured (HTML, XML, and SGML) formats.
• Collaborate with task leads, writers, engineers, and instructors, to develop and deliver sensor/system technical manuals to varying levels of detail and delivery formats.
• Conduct quality review of technical manuals.
• Perform other duties, as assigned.
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in STEM discipline or related field or minimum of 3 years’ experience in military operations and maintenance with radar, communications, electro-optics, networks and information technology-based sensors/systems.
• U.S. citizenship is required.
• Active DoD Secret clearance required.
• Experience developing or assisting in the development of curriculum of instruction including training program plans, job task analysis, curriculum outline of instruction, test packages, lesson plans, trainee guides, and job aids.
• Able and willing to perform physically demanding tasks in extreme environmental conditions.
• Able and willing to travel to domestic and international sites in support of program tasks.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience as a certified military Instructor.
• SCORM courseware development, and courseware media development.
• Minimum of 5 years’ engineering writing experience.
• Possess and maintain Department of Defense (DoD) Secret clearance
