We're seeking a Java Developer to join our team supporting the Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA)-building secure, modern software that advances national defense, readiness, and situational awareness.

We're seeking a Java Developer to join our team supporting the Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA)-building secure, modern software that advances national defense, readiness, and situational awareness.
What You'll Do
As a key member of a mission-focused development team, you will design, build, and deploy applications within secure DoD environments.
- Develop and maintain Java-based web and backend applications supporting DTRA operational systems.
- Write efficient, reliable, and maintainable code following object-oriented design and secure coding standards.
- Implement containerized applications (Docker, Kubernetes) and manage CI/CD pipelines (GitLab, Jenkins).
- Participate in Agile sprints, perform code reviews, and contribute to architecture decisions.
- Integrate data sources, APIs, and analytics tools to enhance mission capabilities.
- Support DevSecOps initiatives and collaborate with cybersecurity engineers to ensure compliance with DoD RMF controls.
- 4+ years of professional software development experience
- Proven proficiency in Java (Spring Boot, JPA, RESTful services) or other object-oriented languages (e.g., Python)
- Hands-on experience with full-stack web application development and application containerization
- Experience deploying applications through CI/CD tools (GitLab, Jenkins) in secure environments
- Understanding of data structures, algorithms, and object-oriented principles
- Experience working in or supporting classified or DoD networks (preferred)
- Active Secret clearance
- Ability to obtain a DoD 8570 IAT II certification (e.g., Security+) within 30 days of start
- Experience with DevSecOps pipelines, automated testing, or vulnerability scanning tools
- Familiarity with database technologies (PostgreSQL, SQL Server, MongoDB)
- Scripting with Python or PowerShell
- Front-end experience with React, Vue, d3, or jQuery
- Understanding of AI/ML concepts or Large Language Models (LLMs)
