Job Overview:
The Warehouse Manager plays a critical role in overseeing and optimizing all warehouse operations to ensure efficient, accurate, and timely handling of goods. This position is responsible for managing inventory control, shipping and receiving processes, and order fulfillment while maintaining compliance with government contracting requirements and international shipping regulations. The Warehouse Manager leads a team to implement best practices in warehouse management systems (WMS) and supply chain operations, driving continuous improvement and operational excellence. They serve as the primary point of contact for interpreting and applying government regulations related to transportation and warehousing activities. Ultimately, the role ensures that all warehouse functions align with organizational goals, regulatory standards, and customer expectations to support seamless supply chain performance.
Skills:
The required skills are applied daily to ensure the warehouse operates efficiently and in full compliance with all regulations. Government contracting knowledge and the ability to interpret government regulations are essential for maintaining compliance and avoiding costly penalties. Warehouse operations expertise, including shipping and receiving, order picking, and inventory control, are critical for managing workflows and meeting customer demands. Proficiency with Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) enables the Warehouse Manager to track inventory accurately, optimize processes, and generate actionable reports. Additionally, skills in international shipping and supply chain operations support coordination with global partners and ensure smooth logistics execution.
Minimum Qualifications:
• More than 3 years of experience managing warehousing operations within the Department of War and preferably Department of the Navy.
• Experience with Department of the Navy systems and their associated warehousing needs, ensuring efficient and compliant operations.
• Experience communicating effectively with various stakeholders.
• Experience managing cost schedule, and performance metrics to optimize warehouse efficiency and meet program objectives.
• Manage and motivate warehouse teams, ensuring high levels of productivity and adherence to safety standards.
• Knowledgeable in risk management policies and assessment methodologies identifying and mitigating potential risks to warehouse operations.
• Knowledge of government contracting requirements and the ability to interpret and apply government regulations.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field.
• Certification in logistics or warehouse management (e.g., Certified Supply Chain Professional, Certified Logistics Manager).
• Experience working with government contracts in a regulated environment.
• Familiarity with advanced inventory control techniques and lean warehouse methodologies.
• Strong leadership experience managing diverse teams in a fast-paced warehouse setting.
Responsibilities:
• Manage daily warehouse operations including shipping, receiving, order picking, and inventory control to meet productivity and accuracy targets.
• Ensure compliance with government contracting requirements and interpret relevant government regulations to maintain operational integrity.
• Oversee international shipping processes, coordinating with customs and logistics partners to facilitate timely and compliant shipments.
• Utilize and optimize Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) to track inventory, streamline workflows, and generate operational reports.
• Lead, train, and develop warehouse staff to maintain high performance, safety standards, and adherence to company policies.
• Collaborate with supply chain and transportation teams to align warehouse activities with broader logistics strategies.
• Conduct regular audits and inspections to ensure inventory accuracy and identify areas for process improvement.
