Summary
The MECM (Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager) Administrator is responsible for the design, deployment, administration, and optimization of MECM systems and associated infrastructure supporting enterprise IT operations. This role ensures the effective management of endpoints, software deployments, updates, compliance baselines, and system security across a distributed enterprise environment.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate deep technical expertise in System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM/MECM), Windows Server environments, and endpoint lifecycle management. The MECM Administrator will also collaborate closely with Systems, Network, and Security teams to ensure seamless service delivery, compliance, and operational efficiency across enterprise networks.

Responsibilities
MECM Administration & Operations
- Administer and maintain the Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager (MECM) infrastructure, including primary and secondary site servers, distribution points, and management points.
- Plan, configure, and deploy MECM site systems and associated components to ensure high availability, scalability, and performance.
- Manage and monitor MECM operations for software distribution, patch management, operating system deployment (OSD), compliance settings, and endpoint protection.
- Implement and maintain client health monitoring, inventory reporting, and automated remediation processes.
- Ensure system reliability and performance through proactive monitoring, tuning, and lifecycle management of MECM components.
Software Deployment & Patch Management
- Develop, test, and deploy enterprise software packages, scripts, and patches using MECM automation capabilities.
- Plan for, deploy, and administer Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager and its associated site systems
- Maintain patch management baselines for both servers and workstations, ensuring compliance with organizational and Government security standards.
- Coordinate deployment schedules to minimize user impact and maintain operational readiness.
- Troubleshoot deployment issues and coordinate with application owners and technical teams to resolve conflicts.
System Configuration & Compliance
- Create and enforce configuration baselines and compliance policies for Windows-based endpoints.
- Perform regular audits of endpoint configurations to ensure alignment with security and operational standards.
- Collaborate with cybersecurity teams to implement STIGs, DISA compliance settings, and vulnerability remediation through MECM.
- Maintain asset and inventory data for all managed systems to support enterprise configuration management efforts.
Automation, Scripting & Reporting
- Develop and maintain PowerShell scripts and automation routines to streamline MECM operations and reporting.
- Produce reports and dashboards detailing software compliance, patch status, and asset inventory for management and customer review.
- Identify opportunities to automate repetitive processes and enhance efficiency through MECM capabilities.
Collaboration & Support
- Work closely with Systems, Network, and Security teams to coordinate deployments, updates, and remediation activities.
- Provide Tier 3 technical support for MECM-related issues escalated from Service Desk or field support teams.
- Participate in change control processes to ensure safe and controlled deployment of configuration changes.
- Document configurations, procedures, and deployment methodologies in accordance with organizational standards.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in a medium-to-large enterprise IT environment, supporting multiple Windows-based servers and endpoints.
- Microsoft Certified Technology Specialist (MCTS) certification in Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager (MECM/SCCM).
- Proven experience in:
- Administering and deploying MECM/SCCM site systems and components.
- Managing large-scale software deployments, patches, and system configurations.
- Supporting Windows Server and client OS environments in enterprise infrastructures.
- Troubleshooting MECM infrastructure, client health, and distribution issues.
- Proficiency in scripting (PowerShell preferred) for automation and system administration tasks.
- Strong understanding of networking concepts, Active Directory, Group Policy, and WSUS integration.
- Must be able to pass the DHS law enforcement background check.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Familiarity with Microsoft Intune / Endpoint Manager integration and hybrid management scenarios.
- Experience in federal or defense environments with DISA STIG and NIST compliance requirements.
- Additional certifications such as:
- Microsoft Certified: Modern Desktop Administrator Associate
- Microsoft Certified: Endpoint Administrator Expert
- CompTIA Security+ or ITIL Foundation
- Experience managing Apple macOS devices within MECM or via integrated management platforms (e.g., JAMF, Intune).
