Role: Forward Deployed Software Engineer
Location: Washington, D.C
Clearance: Secret and above - Ideally TS
Compensation: $150k-$175k + Equity
My client is looking for a Forward Deployed Product Engineer to help customers run satellite missions flawlessly using their software, where reliability is non-negotiable. You’ll ensure their platform performs at the edge, spot what’s missing or over-complicated, and turn those insights into product improvements.
This is more than an engineering role , it’s hands-on and product-driven. You’ll work in the field, in ops centers, and alongside customers, moving fluidly across the stack from infrastructure to frontend.
To be considered for this position you must have the following skills and experience:
Software Deployment & Configuration: Expertise in deploying and configuring software in customer or enterprise environments; understanding CI/CD, deployment automation, and environment management.
Cloud Infrastructure Management: Experience with AWS, Azure, or GCP for provisioning, scaling, and monitoring systems.
API & Backend Troubleshooting: Strong debugging skills across distributed systems, APIs, and databases.
Frontend Debugging: Familiarity with web technologies (React, TypeScript, etc.) for diagnosing UI issues end-to-end.
Customer Engagement: Strong interpersonal skills to build trusted relationships with technical and operations teams.
Database Knowledge: Understanding of SQL and common data-layer performance issues.
