Junior Threat and Weapons System Engineer

Location: Columbia, Maryland

Job Status: Full Time

Clearance: Secret

Salary: $80,000-$95,000

Systems Engineering Group (SEG) is looking for a talented Threat Missile Analysis Engineer who will support various technical areas serving as a multi-disciplinary analyst to multiple projects and programs. Gain a wide breath of experience across multiple disciplines both internally and externally to SEG.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a US DoD security clearance at the required level. Clearance eligibility requirements often include US citizenship as per the governing agency.
  • Bachelor of Science degree or Master of Science degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering
  • Possess excellent verbal and written communications skills to convey abstract concepts to both technical and non-technical audience.
  • Must be able to construct succinct and focused briefs conveying a clear message to the customer.
  • Must be able to design and execute meaningful analysis.
  • Interpersonal skills to enable working, interfacing, and correlating technical approaches with a diverse team to understand and recommend forward-leaning tasks to the program managers.
  • Skilled in use of Python or MATLAB to read-in, interpret, analyze and plot diverse data
  • Familiar with using SolidWorks or similar CAD software


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS

Demonstrated evidence of the following is desired.
  • Two or more years of relevant industry experience
  • Experience presenting at technical reviews utilizing Microsoft Office, Open Office or LaTeX software.
  • Programming experience and scripting in a Linux Environment
  • Knowledge of aerospace/defense systems technology domains.
  • Experience with cruise and/or ballistic missile defense programs.
  • Knowledge of adversary or domestic cruise and/or ballistic missiles.


RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Data analysis and visualizations
  • Responding to quick reaction requests for analysis
  • Using intelligence assessments to create, modify, and mesh (Finite Element Modeling) CAD models in support of RF and IR signature data generation, vulnerability analysis, and trajectory modeling
  • Documentation and presentation of work to internal and external customers
  • Performing research and augmenting toolsets to enhance modeling techniques and improve current processes
  • Reviewing engineering briefs
  • Preparing and present analyses to customers within context of customer needs
