Duties

Responsible for technical aspects of computer services and systems related to 2 Commercial networks; Quality of Life Network (QoLNet) and Enterprise Internet Service Provider (EISP). Acquires, organizes, accesses, and disseminates information to activity managers and employees across a wide spectrum of subjects and fields. Provides technical support to the Child Develop Center technical systems, the Club Systems Point of Sales (POS) system, the Defense Lodging Systems, the Bowling POS and limited associated network hardware. Creates user accounts, assigns group permissions, and folder permissions. Maintains annual system security requirements for system users. Maintains system servers, computers, operating systems (OS), applications to include software upgrades, data separation, equipment maintenance, equipment modifications, replacements, etc. Maintains server and computer OS and Anti-virus updates. Configures Local Computer System Policy requirements that will maintain system integrity while exposing only needed machine services. Develops automated procedures for preserving the integrity of the systems. Maintains timelines for all maintenance functions. Prepares a strategic plan for continuing technology, incorporating Air Force, MAJCOM, and base-level goals and coordinates technology plans with various activities. Evaluates user requirements for data and for automated systems; conducts surveys and studies, analyzing ways to improve mission and education support. Prepares courses of action to be taken for; unanticipated machine error occurrences, emergency shutdown procedures, and procedures for rebooting the system. Participates in the planning and implementation of daily, weekly, monthly and yearly projects, goals and taskings. Monitors the operation of POS systems, QoLNet, EISP and responds to problems by diagnosing and correcting errors. Participates in on-the-job automation training for staff. Creates program scripts and macros as appropriate. Coordinates and accomplishes the disposal of obsolete inventory with proper documentation and authorization. Maintains current logs of operations, patron usage, vendor assistance calls, service visits, and system malfunctions. Conducts an annual inventory of equipment and software. Installs passwords and issues staff authorization levels. Provides individual customer computer literacy training for managers and employees as needed. Provide operating Instructions (OI) information and updates. Completes all necessary tasks and reports Payment Card Industry Compliance. Utilizes a government owed vehicle in performance of these duties. Performs other related duties as assigned.

  • Successful completion and favorable adjudication of applicable background investigation T3 Level is required.
  • Must be able to successfully pass an employment physical.
  • Must be able to obtain a Security Plus certification within six months of employment start date.
  • Must retain a valid drivers license and driving permissions.
  • Must be able to successfully pass a preemployment drug test. This position is designated as a drug testing position (TDP) due to the driving requirement IAW AFI 44-198.

Qualifying Experience:
Must have specialized experience that provided knowledge of the basic principles, theories, practices, techniques, and terminology of a technology-based discipline or subject matter field. A 4-year degree in computer science or related field may be substituted. Ability to apply technology methods and procedures in order to perform technical information systems management. Knowledge of computer operating systems, programming languages, and client/server networking environments is required. DOS, Microsoft, TCP/IP protocol, CD-ROMs in network environments, LANs and WANs are highly recommended areas of experience. Knowledge of commercial networks, switches, hubs, modems and routers to reference services. Internet experience and knowledge of web page development and Internet tools are desired. Work requires some physical exertion such as regular bending, crouching, stooping, stretching, reaching to move and correct computer equipment; and lifting of moderately heavy boxes. Must have a valid drivers license. Must be able to read, write and speak English. Must possess skill in working with peers and with the public.

Education

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. This position does allow for education substitution.

FOREIGN EDUCATION: Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the requirements. You must show proof the education credentials have been deemed to be at least equivalent to that gained in conventional U.S. education program. It is your responsibility to provide such evidence when applying.
