SYSTEMS ENGINEER SENIOR

MEANINGFUL WORK AND PERSONAL IMPACT
As a Systems Engineer Senior, the work you'll do at GDIT will be impactful to the mission of a SOCOM organization. You will play a crucial role in designing and implementing endpoint management solutions using both Tanium and MECM, supporting enterprise patching, configuration management, and software deployment.
Modernization & Transition:
Develop and execute a phased migration plan from MECM to Tanium, ensuring minimal service disruption and maintaining compliance with organizational and security requirements.
Patch & Software Deployment:
Engineer and automate software distribution, operating system deployments, and patch management using Tanium and MECM.
Automation & Scripting:
Develop and maintain PowerShell and Tanium scripts/packages to automate administrative tasks and enhance reporting capabilities.
Endpoint Security & Compliance:
Utilize Tanium and MECM to deploy security patches, monitor compliance baselines, and remediate vulnerabilities.
Performance Monitoring & Reporting:
Create dashboards and compliance reports using Tanium modules (e.g., Patch, Comply, Deploy, Asset) and MECM reports to track deployment health and endpoint status.
Collaboration & Mentoring:
Work closely with system administrators, cybersecurity teams, and leadership to align endpoint management processes; provide technical guidance to junior engineers.

WHAT YOU'LL NEED TO SUCCEED
Bring your technology expertise and drive for innovation to GDIT. The Systems Engineer Senior must have:
- • Education: Bachelor of Arts/Bachelor of Science
- • Experience: 5+ years of related experience
- • Technical skills:
- Proven experience administering and engineering Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager (MECM/SCCM) in an enterprise environment.
- Hands-on experience with Tanium modules such as Patch, Comply, Deploy, Asset, and Discover.
- Strong understanding of Windows operating systems (Windows 11 and Windows Server 2019/2022/2025).
- Experience developing and maintaining operating system images, task sequences, and deployment baselines.
- Proficiency with PowerShell scripting for automation, remediation, and system reporting.
- Skilled in software packaging and automated deployments using MSI, EXE, and custom scripts.
- Familiarity with Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, and WSUS integration with MECM and Tanium.
- Working knowledge of SQL Server (for MECM reporting, queries, and troubleshooting).
- Experience creating and managing compliance baselines, collections, and custom queries within MECM and Tanium.
- Understanding of network fundamentals, including ports, protocols, and bandwidth considerations for distributed environments.
- Solid understanding of VMware vCenter
- Deep understanding of Active Directory, including Sites and Services, Organizational Units (OUs), and Group Policy Objects (GPOs), to support efficient MECM boundary configuration and client communication.
Security & Compliance
- Experience implementing and maintaining endpoint security configurations using MECM and/or Tanium.
- Familiarity with DoD and Federal IT security frameworks, including DISA STIGs, NIST SP 800-53, and CIS Benchmarks.
- Experience conducting vulnerability remediation and patch compliance reporting in secure environments.
- Knowledge of RBAC (Role-Based Access Control) and secure system configuration practices.
Operational Skills
- Ability to troubleshoot client and server issues across MECM and Tanium components.
- Experience managing enterprise-scale deployments (thousands of endpoints across multiple sites or networks).
- Strong analytical skills to interpret logs, reports, and error conditions for root-cause analysis.
- Proven ability to document standard operating procedures (SOPs), configuration guides, and troubleshooting runbooks.
- Experience in change management and configuration tracking within controlled environments.
