The Joint, Office of the Secretary of Defense, Interagency Division provides expert support services to a range of customers spanning across the Department of Defense, Federal Civilian, and international markets. JOID provides a diverse portfolio of analytical and programmatic capabilities to help our customers make informed decisions on their most challenging issues.
The Acquisition and Technology Analysis Group within JOID specializes in the application of multi-disciplinary analytic skills to support multiple clients within the Department of Defense (DoD). These clients include the Office of the Under Secretary of Defense for Research and Engineering (OUSD(R&E)), Office of the Under Secretary of Defense for Acquisition and Sustainment (OUSD(A&S)), DARPA, the Joint Staff, and USINDOPACOM. SPA provides critical decision support to enabling and executing a strategy of technological superiority and enabling the delivery and sustainment of secure, resilient, and preeminent capabilities to the warfighter quickly and cost effectively. Our team of experienced military, technical, and operations research analysts is skilled in evaluating military problems, identifying the driving factors, devising innovative approaches, collecting applicable data, developing necessary software tools, and performing thorough and timely assessments to inform technology and acquisition governance decisions to ensure U.S. military forces retain military superiority in the future.
We have an immediate need for a Space Domain Awareness Subject Matter Expert (SME) to support the Cyber Warfare Directorate within the Office of the Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Platform and Weapon Portfolio Management (DASD PWPM). This role is located onsite at the Mark Center in Alexandria, VA.
Responsibilities
The Space Domain Awareness Subject Matter Expert (SME) will support the Cyber Warfare Directorate by offering strategic recommendations and technical analysis on emerging Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR) systems and capabilities that will allow CWD cybersecurity experts to identify and address cybersecurity gaps and shortfalls. This role involves coordinating, researching, analyzing, and developing 4-star level presentations called Integrated Acquisition Portfolio Reviews (IAPRs). Each IAPR will focus on enterprise-level interdependencies, capability shortfalls, operational gaps, and opportunities to mitigate cyber risk to mission through acquisition programs or changes to cyberspace policy and authorities. A technical understanding of space domain awareness and space control, as well as the ability to address mission-level considerations, will be essential for success in this position. The SME will play a key role in shaping policy and strategy while ensuring the resilience and effectiveness of critical space-based systems and capabilities. Strong analytical skills, excellent communication abilities, and a strategic mindset will be critical in this dynamic environment.

Qualifications
Required:
- Active DoD TS/SCI clearance.
- Master's degree and 10+ years of relevant experience in the intelligence community, a national agency, a combatant command, or within the military space community focused on ISR and Space Control/Space Operations.
- Demonstrated understanding of Space enterprise to include DoD requirements, acquisition, and budgeting processes and applicable Defense Space guidance and policy.
- Experience with radar, optical, or infrared sensors and data fusion techniques to detect, track, and characterize space objects.
- Ability to synthesize information into papers, briefings, and presentations for senior leadership.
- Experience with the DoD Acquisition System and/or ICD 801 acquisition processes.
- Able to work fully onsite based on client needs.
Desired:
- 15+ years of experience in the space domain or intelligence community.
- Experience with qualitative and quantitative assessment methods to support war-fighting readiness, capabilities, and capacity evaluations.
- DAWIA Program Management (PM) or Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
